re the pole shed, not 20x30, but 24x32. Even multiples of 4' and 8', less waste.

Those two photos of the collapsed shed made my head hurt. So sorry. The rest of the thread is so interesting because I'm just about to build a shed to store a new power cat. My problem is the possibility of falling trees and a very delicate boat. Been thinking of a bow-shed style building with a big old (dead) aluminum mast as a ridge pole. The mast could have legs at both ends. Any thoughts?
My property taxes have almost doubled in 15 years, so not wanting to add to my property value.

The company I linked to had a cancelled order for a 25 x 36 with vertical side walls that they offered to me for around $8000 with free shipping. It's too big for me but the system and technology seems good.

I don't think it would, but I built a tiny deck on my house and it bumped up my assessed value, so I'm sure if I put up a serious shed like a steel quonset hut it would affect my property taxes. They now base the assessed values on what you may get for your property if you sell it and this is now a trendy place to move to if you have tons of dough, so values have skyrocketed. Everyone is paying roughly double what taxes were 15 or 20 years ago, even people who don't have money.
I like the Stimson style bow sheds and have always wanted to build one. The natural light factor is appealing.

I built a small shed (6' x 8') a few years ago & the lister from the town stopped by & said "New shed! I'll have to add that to the property value" I said "No, it's not permanent" & pointed to the skids under it. She said "Nice try Garret." I said "Give me 5 minutes to hook up my trailer" and did so, backed up to it, got out a come-along & started pulling it on. "OK, OK - I get it - not permanent" & my taxes didn't change.

A buddy of mine has a classic Pontiac convertible. He installed a car lift in his garage for it. They park the everyday sedan under the elevated classic. Maybe if your ceiling is high enough.....

Now that the glaciers have receded, you can see what I've got here.
The thing is resting easy on the boat, not too much weight and the plastic is still intact so is keeping the rain off the boat. The boat is also covered by a good quality Sunbrella-like boat cover.
I'm jammed up with other stuff for the next couple of weeks.
Will clear the wreakage after that.
I'm still not sure what to replace it with. Now I'm leery that anything other then a massive pole barn won't be safe enough in Vermont winters. Clearing weak temporary structures is really tough. I've got to wear snowshoes to do it on one side. I'd like to have something that does not require clearing the roof of snow.

Stimson shed with shrink-wrap. A friend in Maine has had one up as a car "garage" for 8+ years now. Snow & ice slide right off & no issues as long as it's securely fastened to the ground (screw-in anchors).

Stimson boat shed. A2A has mentioned once or twice that their new shop roof is performing much better than the old A-frame roof.

Otherwise, a steep shed roof on top of some big posts is your answer.

Edit to Add: maybe a classic A-Frame shed is the answer. Just big enough for the boat to fit into.

Extreme? Maybe, unheard of? No. I remember a storm around 4/25 10-15 years ago that dropped 40 inches. Note that I spelled the word out that time? Thx - I corrected my post.
