Hi, please notice the Vertue yacht in the background 'Speedwell of Hong Kong'
Bruce
Hi WX, We would have enjoyed the day, should have been there with our Tui of Opua as well.

Oh, she’s beautiful afloat! What a neat boat.
Hi WX, Have you been following Shirley's blog via the Vertue Owners web site.
Bruce
Not really, I've looked a couple of times and I've read her article in the mag a while back. Covid shifted my focus away from boats a bit last year. Then the discovery of more major rot in Redwing and knowing that this time it's terminal has left me a bit despondent.

Huh. I was briefly aboard that boat while Annie was building it. I recall that it seemed like a very very deep and sheltered cockpit. Nice to see it launched!

You don't have to be prepared as long as you're willing to suffer the consequences.

Well done!
There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.
Lovely job, well done Annie!

She loves light airs, is stiff, tacks predictably and points well

Plans btw are for 7m, 8m and 9m versions. Annie's is the 8m version. Plans are also free to JRA members.

Whereabouts was she launched? It looks like Whangarei.
There is nothing quite as permanent as a good temporary repair.
I think that is right. This is from an email I received today.
One of my dreams, while I was building the boat, was to sail to an anchorage where I could be left in peace from my phone or the Internet. Well, I've just about got that anchorage now, but I had forgotten that I would want to send pics of FanShi's launching to all those who have been interested in following my progress over all these years. It's taken me about 2 days just to download those I've been sent!! We launched last Friday on a day of peerless beauty, with light winds and bright sunshine. Six other junks were there to see Fanshi dip her keel in the water for the first time. With a fair wind, I could sail off the slipway.
The next day about 5 of use sailed down harbour to a little anchorage called Parua Bay and I am still there with Zebedee and Speedwell. Since we arrived, we have had a lot of strong wind, so none of us is really that keen to move on! There are a few things to sort out, as you would expect, but overall the boat seems to do as I had hoped. She is wonderfully stiff at anchor, which makes these winds a lot more tolerable!

Looks great!
I can't open the plans link though.
Thanks WX, Parua Bay is on Whangarei harbour. Good Pub there too!

An expert is but a beginner with experience.
She’s a beaut!
What a breath of fresh air it is to see that boat. Personality to spare! Wishing her more great travels.

Fantastic!
