all birds like crumbs
all birds like crumbs
There's one at my bird feeder now, and likes them. They have been there before.
A penguin???
Bread is Bad for Birds
Please don’t give wild birds bread, crackers or other human snack foods.
Bread has zero nutrition for wild birds. In fact, bread, crackers, chips and other human snacks are, in some ways, WORSE than feeding birds absolutely nothing. Why? Because bread is bad for birds.
Bread is really, really bad for birds.
Basically, bread robs birds of the opportunity to take in the true nourishment their bodies require to survive.
Bread offers wild birds absolutely ZERO nutrition. ZERO. But, how could it possibly harm them, if it has zero effect? Simply, bread fills up a small stomach in a hurry. The bird doesn’t know the food is useless, but leaves feeling full and satisfied, nonetheless. This is a deadly combination of factors, considering how many calories birds need to eat in order to survive.
To begin with, birds must be very efficient eaters due to rapid metabolism and the small size of their stomachs. Birds need to max out every meal in order to take in enough nourishment. This means a bird will always take full advantage of each and every feeding opportunity. Ideally, they should be filling up with food that has a high density of the proteins, fats and carbohydrates they require. The food Nature intended. Bread is not that food.
Eating bread can be deadly for birds.
The bird doesn’t realize it has wasted an opportunity to be nourished, it has eaten its fill. It will continue going about its business, its body burning calories just the same. With a stomach stuffed full of nothing. With no calories to metabolize to stay warm or provide energy to evade predators.
For a small bird, this can lead to tragedy very quickly. A Black-capped Chickadee can freeze to death overnight, with its stomach full of bread.
hook,line,and sinker!
Well, Trump isn't literally toast. And while some birds would probably eat at least parts of him, I'm not sure he'd be part of a healthy diet anyway.

Trump's future may prove to be quite interesting. Rachel last night reported on the enormous pressure Barr's Justice Department put on NY prosecutors to keep Trump's name out of their case against Cohen. They didn't even want "Individual 1" mentioned.
It APPEARS that pressure is gone and it doesn't seem as if anyone who would stand between Trump and Trump being held accountable is no longer in a position to protect him. We may see a lot of this catch up to him.
A question we were asked to ponder is how Cohen went to prison for delivering a payoff to Stormy Daniels ON BEHALF OF TRUMP, but Trump remained free.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by the special counsel overseeing probes into former President Donald Trump, according to multiple sources familiar with the matter.
It's not immediately clear what information the subpoena from special counsel Jack Smith is seeking, but it follows months of negotiations between federal prosecutors and Pence's legal team.
Smith was appointed in November to oversee the investigation into Trump's potential mishandling of classified documents after leaving the presidency and obstructing the government's efforts to retrieve them -- as well as a separate probe into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the results of the 2020 election.
The move will be seen as a major escalation of Smith's probe into efforts by Trump and his allies to overturn the election, and suggests that Smith's investigation has entered a more advanced stage.
A spokesperson for Pence did not respond to a request for comment by ABC News. The special counsel's office also declined to comment.
A spokesperson for Trump also did not immediately respond.

From The New York Times:
It is not a slam dunk that Pence will balk and claim executive privilege prevents his testifying. ABC reported that the DOJ and the Pence camp have been in negotiations about his testimony for a while. It might be that Pence actually wants to talk but insisted upon a subpeona for political cover (he can claim that he had no choice but to testify before the grand jury).Pence Gets Subpoena From Special Counsel in Jan. 6 Investigation
The move by Jack Smith, the special counsel, is one of the most aggressive in his investigation of Donald Trump’s efforts to stay in power and is likely to lead to a battle over executive privilege.

Former Vice President Mike Pence has been subpoenaed by the special counsel investigating former President Donald J. Trump’s efforts to cling to his office after he lost his bid for re-election, a person familiar with the matter said on Thursday.
The move by the Justice Department sets up a likely clash over executive privilege, which Mr. Trump has previously used to try to slow, delay and block testimony from former administration officials in various investigations into his conduct.
The existence of the subpoena was reported earlier by ABC News.
It was not immediately clear when the special counsel, Jack Smith, sought Mr. Pence’s testimony. The move is among the most aggressive yet by Mr. Smith in his wide-ranging investigation into Mr. Trump’s role in seeking to overturn the outcome of the 2020 election and a parallel inquiry into Mr. Trump’s handling of classified documents.
The New York Times previously reported that the Justice Department was interested in questioning Mr. Pence in connection with the investigation into Mr. Trump’s efforts to remain in power after he lost the 2020 election.
An aide to Mr. Pence declined to confirm the existence of the subpoena. A Justice Department official did not respond to a request for comment.
Mr. Pence was at the center of Mr. Trump’s last gasp to hold on to power in the two months after his election loss. Mr. Trump seized on Mr. Pence’s ceremonial role in overseeing the congressional certification of the Electoral College results to try to press his vice president into blocking or delaying the outcome on Jan. 6, 2021.
Mr. Pence refused, a fact highlighted publicly by Mr. Trump as he stirred up a crowd of his supporters that day before they marched to the Capitol and breached it. Some of the rioters were heard chanting, “Hang Mike Pence.”
Mr. Pence is a potential rival to Mr. Trump for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination.
Mr. Trump has frequently tried to assert executive privilege when officials have sought testimony from people who worked for him in the White House. He has generally been unsuccessful, but those battles over what matters are covered by privilege have slowed some of the investigations.

Couldn't happen to a nicer jellyfish.
Jack Smith has my respect. That it took this long for the DoJ to get a subpoena, not so much. And Pence, if he was any kind of patriot at all would have testified voluntarily to the DoJ 2 years ago.

And now The Washington Post reports:
Pence receives subpoena from prosecutors examining Trump’s role in Jan. 6
It is unclear whether Pence will comply with the subpoena, which pits a potential 2024 rival against the foirmer president.

Former Vice President Mike Pence received a subpoena from the special counsel investigating key aspects of the sprawling probe into the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol and former president Donald Trump’s efforts to overturn the election, according to a person familiar with the matter.
Jack Smith — the special counsel appointed by Attorney General Merrick Garland to lead the day-day operations of the investigation — is also heading a separate criminal probe into Trump’s possible mishandling of classified documents at his Florida home.
The Pence subpoena is related to Jan. 6, according to the person familiar with the matter, and comes after months of negotiations between the Justice Department and Pence.
ABC News first reported news of the subpoena. A spokesman for the special counsel declined to comment
The subpoena marks the highest level person in Trump’s orbit publicly known to be subpoenaed as part of the investigation and could pit two potential presidential candidates against one another.
It is unclear whether Pence will comply with the subpoena. His advisers had previously said he was not interested in appearing before the congressional committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol. Pence has told people privately that he has concerned about testifying against Trump because of executive privilege, according to the person familiar with the matter.
Pence is presumably the only witness to one-on-one conversations he had with Trump, and prosecutors may feel they need to, at a minimum, attempt to get his version of events under oath.
Pence has publicly suggested Trump got bad legal advice and downplayed the idea that he saw criminal conduct.
“Well, I don’t know if it is criminal to listen to bad advice from lawyers,” Pence told NBC last year. “The truth is, what the president was repeating is what he was hearing from that gaggle of attorneys around him. Presidents, just like all of us that have served in public life, you have to rely on your team, you have to rely on the credibility of the people around you. So, as time goes on, I hope we can move beyond this, beyond that prospect. And this is really a time when our country ought to be healing.”
Federal law enforcement officials are also in discussions Pence’s legal team to perform a consensual search of his Indiana home to ensure there are no classified materials on his property, according to a person familiar with the matter.

Of course, executive priviledge on February 9, 2023 resides with President Biden and not citizen Trump. Pence and Trump could ask the court to stop this. And they would lose.

I agree. But Pence has presidential ambitions and does not want to alienate the MAGA base. IMO his reach exceeds his grasp. Frankly, it would not surprise me if the "sources" that leaked this information to the press came from within Pence's camp. He's been playing both ends against the middle for a while. Some of the principle testimony to the House January 6 committee came from Pence staffers. I think that when the day comes that Pence testifies before the grand jury he will tell the truth.Originally Posted by TomF

It's kinda cute that Pence still believes he could become president. It's also pathetic.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...ectoral-fraud/
Former president Donald Trump’s 2020 campaign commissioned an outside research firm in a bid to prove electoral-fraud claims but never released the findings because the firm disputed many of his theories and could not offer any proof that he was the rightful winner of the, according to four people familiar with the matter.
The campaign paid researchers from Berkeley Research Group, the people said, to study 2020 election results in six states, looking for fraud and irregularities to highlight in public and in the courts. Among the areas examined were voter machine malfunctions, instances of dead people voting and any evidence that could help Trump show he won, the people said. None of the findings were presented to the public or in court.
It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.

who needs a State Dept when you have Jared. In early 2021, as Donald Trump exited the White House, he and his son-in-law Jared Kushner faced unprecedented business challenges. Revenue at Trump’s properties had plummeted during his presidency, and the attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters made his brand even more polarizing. Kushner, whose last major business foray had left his family firm needing a $1.2 billion bailout, faced his own political fallout as a senior Trump aide.
But one ally moved quickly to the rescue.
The day after leaving the White House, Kushner created a company that he transformed months later into a private equity firm with $2 billion from a sovereign wealth fund chaired by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Kushner’s firm structured those funds in such a way that it did not have to disclose the source, according to previously unreported details of Securities and Exchange Commission forms reviewed by The Washington Post. His business used a commonly employed strategy that allows many equity firms to avoid transparency about funding sources, experts said.
.
.
Kushner “was learning diplomacy on the fly,” he wrote in his memoir. Mohammed’s associates sensed Kushner’s inexperience during a post-election meeting. In a summary of the 2016 talk by Saudi officials reported by the Lebanese publication Al Akhbar, Mohammed’s advisers wrote: “Kushner made clear his lack of familiarity with the history of Saudi-American relations.”
It soon became clear that Kushner effectively was running foreign policy on Saudi Arabia.
