I'd like to think those in power are ensuring all their ducks are solidly in proper order and that all the t's and i's are crossed and dotted. I don't count on it. Trump has been quite expert at keeping his signature off things, and leaving little or no paper trail. It's possible a lot of lawyers do time, and he does not.

I think this has been mentioned here before?

Federal investigators examined Trump Media for possible money laundering, sources say | Donald Trump | The Guardian

Federal prosecutors in New York involved in the criminal investigation into Donald Trump’s social media company last year started examining whether it violated money laundering statutes in connection with the acceptance of $8m with suspected Russian ties, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The company – Trump Media, which owns Trump’s Truth Social platform – initially came under criminal investigation over its preparations for a potential merger with a blank check company called Digital World (DWAC) that was also the subject of an earlier investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Towards the end of last year, federal prosecutors started examining two loans totaling $8m wired to Trump Media, through the Caribbean, from two obscure entities that both appear to be controlled in part by the relation of an ally of Russian president Vladimir Putin, the sources said.

What is happening is not normal. Trump has blurred the lines and distorted perceptions and the rule of law is scrambling to get a foothold. The pressure must st be extremely intense for anyone involved in the procedures moving towards holding Trump to account. They are at ground zero in the fight to regain stability and clarify the battleground as Trump continues to shatter the accepted norms of civil discourse. Trump is an extremely destabilising presence on the national stage and he is digging down to levels not ever encountered in the US system of Government. The flow on effects could well become a domino effect and I’m sure various contingencies are being game planned.
In the normal course of events it would be no big Beal for a case like the stormy daniels payment to be shelved but in the climate Trump has manufactured and continues to manipulate its a big deal as all hell will break loose and Trump will secure A propaganda foothold over the legal system.
All hell has already broken loose and the only way out is for Trump to be held accountable on all legal fronts.

Sad thing is, what Trump and the Trumpists are doing is very normal in the decline of democracies into authoritarian rule. It's textbook, actually.

The question is going to be whether enough Americans push back enough.

Alvin Braggs office has received an envelope with white powder and other anonymous threats. Because of such concerns the jurors in the E Jean Carroll law suit against Trump have been granted anonymity. This is usually only needed for trials involving heavy criminals like that of a mob boss.........and he said drain the swamp! I always thought his accusations speak more about himself than those he accuses.

worth exploring is why this has not occurred up until now. One aspect is that the status quo regarding the application of the law and the benefits that come with being wealthy apply not just to rump far ass theif but to all the other wealthy families that play the system because they can afford the monetary cost. The dynamic trump is milking for all it’s worth he has been doing so for decades. The issue is now he has take. It to the level of head of state and because he is so enmeshed in that was of thinking as his god given right to exploit it is threatening the foundations of the republic. Has this been mentioned?

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/polit...h-destruction/

Former president Donald Trump warned early Friday of “potential death & destruction” if he is charged in Manhattan in a criminal case related to alleged hush-money payments to adult-film actress Stormy Daniels to conceal an affair.
The posting after midnight on Truth Social, Trump’s social media platform, was his latest — and most explicit — allusion to violence that could follow an indictment stemming from an investigation led by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg (D), whom Trump called a “degenerate psychopath.”
Trump wrote: “What kind of person can charge another person, in this case a former President of the United States, who got more votes than any sitting President in history, and leading candidate (by far!) for the Republican Party nomination, with a Crime, when it is known by all that NO Crime has been committed, & also known that potential death & destruction in such a false charge could be catastrophic for our Country?”

Trump posts disturbing baseball bat photo with Alvin Bragg, threatens ‘death and destruction’ | AllSides

Former President Donald Trump sparked outrage by sharing images showing him holding a baseball bat next to Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s head — as he threatened “death and destruction” if he’s criminally charged
Trump, 76, shared the image — featured in a link to an article — on his Truth Social platform Thursday as he devoted his day to attacking the prosecutor for pursuing a case over the “hush money” payout to porn star Stormy Daniels.

Last jury duty I was called to I told the judge one of my dilemmas was the wealthy won't be coming to trial; only poor slobs. I gave him some examples. One example was the Ford Explorer roll overs that killed OVER 400 PEOPLE. Ford and Firestone, it turned out, both knew what the problem was but chose not to fix is. NO ONE GOT CHARGED OR ARRESTED, LET ALONE TRIED.

It might be a date was 'set' but keeps moving back to discourage those who would protest. I can see a bunch of people all set for Tuesday. Then Wednesday, Then Friday, and getting discouraged, running out of cash, needing to go back to work, etc.....

No, no--not "smashed down." They were simply asked (violently, it's true, but only because they proved so stubborn) to be patient and wait for their pie in the sky when they died.

I'll be quite disappointed if none of these cases ever land on Trump; he's never indicted for any of them. That said, he did his 'thing' in announcing he was going to be arrested last Tuesday. One of my thoughts here is that his words energized those who may well be prone to do violence on his behalf.

I envision the largest number of would be Trump instigated people would have made themselves available on that Tuesday. When Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, the weekend, etc. came with him not being arrested. I suspect however large the number on Tuesday may have been, it's been shrinking.

Maybe all the people involved in these various cases against him are coordinating and he'll get hit all at once, with little or no warning.

I reckon a good percentage of Trump parafanalia are simply businesses using Trump to get access to a target market. When Trump phizzes they will move on to other marketing strategies. One obvious opportunist is an Australian who now calls himself a patriotic Alpha Male American. I picked it a mile away a year or so ago but notice there is an article about him on Crikey. He is a reral snake oil tosser if ever there was one.

New Grift Alert: Donald Trump Jr. Is Out Here Selling ‘American’ Bibles

New Grift Alert: Donald Trump Jr. Is Out Here Selling 'American' Bibles | The Mary Sue

The Bible is branded with “a vertical reversed American flag design that represents a country in distress,” with “We the People” in large letters at the bottom and “Holy Bible” stuck in the left corner in a much smaller font. It uses the King James translation, which the website claims “is ideal for the patriots who believe it is time to give America back to God, and features copies of America’s founding documents.”

    Funny because:
    1) you’re using a British translation of the Bible and
    2) quite a few of those documents establish the separation of Church and State.

They’re also selling this Bible in “Patriot,” “Liberty,” and “Save America” bundles, which include items like a “Challenge Coin,” a bookmark, an American flag lapel pin, a T-shirt, and/or a hat with the same ugly black-on-gray logo as the Bible.

Great news. 47 pages and at last there is some real movement towards holding TFG accountable. The real rubber hits the road when he is indicted over Jan 6.

    ..........and we now have
