    Default Trump is Toast

........enough rope has been given and the metaphorical noose has tightened around Trump's feeble throat as it bears the full weight of a dying political carcass of useless, dying blubber. All we will see from this point on is his writhing at the end of the rope as the remaining political life is sapped out of his decadent pathetically writhing political biomass.

Not Trumpism but Trump himself is toast. He has defiled sacred ground and the vast majority of the population are turning in disgust. There is a mass realization and dismay reverberating through a shocked and traumatised body politic. The remaining few who are blinded by their own duplicity are caught, like rabbits in the spotlight, unsure of their next impulsive move while distancing themselves from Trump's magnum opus of January 6th.

You are dreaming when you say Trumpism is dead.

Did the South turn un-racist after the Civil War?

Did German militarism die with the ouster of the Kaiser?

Read my post! I made a distinction between Trump and Trumpism with this sentence; Not Trumpism but Trump himself is toast.

Actually Fred Australians watch America on a daily basis through various media, most of which is held to the highest standard. We are very well informed about your country and have a clear view of how it works and of your history. The stupidity- or more to the point the gullibility- of a large number of your fellow citizens is noted on a daily basis.
And speaking of media, scum like Hannity and Carlson need to be held to account for the role they've played in bringing America to it's present godawful position. JayInOz

Looks like Fred can't read either, Hallam!

Most Americans have no idea what cultural imperialism looks like or how saturated with American news virtually all our media are. They typically have no idea about the politics or governments of any other countries either, with the exception of whichever country they've decided to declare is their latest enemy.

Do you know, most Americans actually believe that Americans were fighting for THEIR freedom in Vietnam and Korea. A high proportion of Americans believe the Sept 11 incident was instigated by Saddam Hussein and that Iraq did have WMDs. The level of gullibility in our own country is very high but in the US, it's extreme.

"No one in this world, so far as I know—and I have searched the records for years, and employed agents to help me—has ever lost money by underestimating the intelligence of the great masses of the plain people. Nor has anyone ever lost public office thereby. The mistake that is made always runs the other way. Because the plain people are able to speak and understand, and even, in many cases, to read and write, it is assumed that they have ideas in their heads, and an appetite for more. This assumption is a folly." — H.L. Mencken, The Evening Sun, September 18, 1926

Several things can happen. Nothing is one of them. the 25th amendment is possible. Impeachment and removal is possible; when do the two new senators join the senate?

I was kind of happy when I saw Nicolle Wallace today talking about how to fight the alternative facts crowd.

Ok Fred Z, lets go back to the OP and what I said:

You do understand that i am referring to Trump himself as a mainstream political candidate. That he as a political entity is toast. I never said 'Trumpism' is toast. I have, in other threads referring to trumpism, or more specifically Trump's ardent followers, often expressed and elaborated on the theme of cult following and associated psychological entrapments of the thought process of cult members. This is i believe a very real aspect of what Trump has exploited among his base and is not a quick fix. They are hooked! Replace the h with an f if you like...... I have genuine feelings of sorrow for their plight. To put it another way, they have been sinned against, abused and used and will probably be thrown on the trash heap by most looking on and jeering in the aftermath.......disgusting!

Now, on to the next clarification. The mass realization and dismay reverberating through a shocked and traumatised body politic.

This is a reference to the voting population of the USA as a whole, not a reference to Trump's followers. For starters Trump never received a majority vote. Secondly if we take those who vote republican, many who saw what unfolded on Jan 6 and "President" Trump's actions at the rally in the morning and response after, many of these republican voters can be included in the group of shocked and traumatized. This is indeed a pivotal moment in US political history, one in which Trump has done terminal damage to his political credibility! It's difficult to believe he had any credibility to begin the day with! But he did and this alone is full testimony to the stupidity of a really large chunk of the American public! However what transpired later in the day is the rather pathetic climax of the Trump trajectory, built upon a foundation of lies manipulation and exploitation. Furthermore Trump is and never was alone in spearheading this trajectory and his accomplices will remain in political office and their sights with be refined and their dim whitts sharpened by the experience they have just gained at the expense of this shocked and traumatised body politic!

Now i think i have made myself clear, although the level of critical thinking of some in the northern hemisphere never ceases to amaze this distant observer.
Can it be said that perhaps you did not perfectly understand what I posted? Perhaps we are more on the same page in opinion than your assumptions allowed you to understand?

I invite your response to my original post which was dipping my toe in the water inviting discussion, and subsequent clarification in the spirit of clear communication.
My reason being the belief that this is a watershed moment in US history, a glimpse at the natural and logical consequence of leadership in the style and person of Trump! Something to be avoided in the future. A sour taste left as an epitaph........

Yes, don't worry, we know that! Nearly 80m Americans voted against Trump, most of the Americans we know are really great people, admirable. I spend a lot of my time actually defending America and Americans, for good reason, but it can be hard at times. America has some deep problems that are potentially dangerous for all of us.

his status is "deleted member". Not sure I've seen that one before. And searching for him now suddenly shows that no such member exists.

What'd he do to pi$$ of the Great ascot?or was it self-immolation?

Misguided, thoughtless, gullible, people are part of every nation and half the US population loves or tolerates Trump. It might have changed a bit since Jan 6th. Half the population of Britain wanted Brexit Half didn't. It seems most the half who didn't were the educated thoughtful considerate broad minded type. A lot of the pro Brexiteers seemed to be, in retrospect the type who would think Trump's ok-
There's a huge proportion of supporters of far right views in the Netherlands, France, Germany, , getting on for half the population I'd hazard a guess.
    Populist Nationalism.
The left and left of centre politics are strong here in Portugal. There is a conservative right of course, Catholic, still thinking Salazar was a good guy, still yearning for the return of the Monarchy, but maybe 20% or less.
Its all down to education. only 40 years ago youth were actively discouraged from further education. Leave school at 14 or even younger, go and work in the fields, wait for conscription, go and die in unwillable anti colonialist guerrilla wars for the benefit of the ruling rich elite who owned or controlled Mozambique , Angola, most of Portugal.
    Recipe for revolution.
And even if Trump is toast, he appears to be the type who probably couldn't care less. Unless he ends up doing porridge.
'Trumpism' though can only be mitigated by Education in it's broadest sense
