New Year's Day Hike at Montauk

[Breakaway]

Hiked through the woods to the Block Island Sound side to a point where seals often haul out. With me were my daughters Margaret ( red head), Keira ( blonde) and our friend Sabra ( brunette).

That low cloud looking thing in the distance above their heads is Block Island.



We saw hooded seal, harp seal and harbor seal.



After some fruit, cheese and hot chocolate from the thermos we packed in, we headed back out.

On the way home, we stopped in the village to admire this lapstrake workhorse. Looks like expediency beat tradition for this owner, with respect to the transom repair.

When you said the "low cloud looking thing in the distance" you meant the low dark thing behind the sign, not the cloud bank above it.

Block Island isn't *that* big!
