The Bilge serves a good social purpose and this forum has lasted perfectly well for as long as it is had it’s place on the forum, so I don’t think there’s any risk of it causing this particular forum to implode as others may have done.

My only problem with it is, because I tend to prefer the sunlight and rarely venture down there, I tend to miss out on some real boat gems that get posted there because of the apparently higher viewership .....??

It seems that many bilge dwellers never raise their heads to look above the cabin sole at anything else on the forum so a lot of posters will post good boat content stuff down there so that it gets the viewership and response.

It’s kind of like someone stashing a really good bottle of booze down in the bilge on your boat and, although you are aware there’s something rattling around down there, you think it must be just an old oil bottle or something and you never realise that it’s really, really worth drinking ....meanwhile it just rolls around getting coated in bilge muck....

It is just this which inspires me to urge folks to post boat-related content abovedecks.

I agree, but most folks who've tried that say they get far more views & interaction in the Bilge. Must be some people can handle it.

    Someone's feeling persecuted? I haven't seen that.

Nice, Upper left corner . clicking new posts doesn't show bilge posts. didn't know that . Thanks. All this smelly talk made me think of one of my favorite signs I want to put on a T-shirt. Uncle Billybilly.jpg

So I have been around here for awhile, stayed out of the Bilge for years. However last year things kinda changed!
Started sitting around at work all day waiting for the phone to ring. NOT complaining I am employed! I really don't comment that much or add that much to the conversation so I want this to be known. Over the last year and a half the Bilge has been a real asset! (Period, drop the mike and all that stuff).
