Pelosi was reelected Speaker of the House by a narrow majority that broke along party lines (as far as I can tell).

I confess I would like to see some new blood, but we could do worse.

So you don’t like Pelosi, who would you rather see there?
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
.
I think she has been an effective speaker. Can't please everybody.
"You can't have a country where somebody loses an election and becomes president of the United States." -- Donald J. Trump, December 9, 2020 at the White House Hannukah party
I honestly don't know. She is speaker because she is exceptional in raising money. I think she was too ineffective in providing a voice in opposition to Trump. She needed to be heard and she needed to be forceful. I don't think she was either. I'm not crazy about Schumer, either. I just think it's time for a change.
Do you think she handled the Trump impeachment well? I don't.
Do you think she had any sense with that ridiculous beauty parlor nonsense some months ago? She was tone deaf to do that.
People were losing their jobs and she was showing off the ice cream and chocolates in her fridge. Tone deaf?
The only politics and power she is good at are party politics. Outside the party, she is not effective.
At close to 81, I hope there is someone in the wings with her skills.
It was reported on MSNBC this morning that this will be her last term as Speaker.
I don't know the source of that report or if the reporter was mistaken.
I was born on a wooden boat that I built myself.
I've noticed thru the years that the less someone knows about the facts and details of a situation, the more likely that their criticisms will be both ill-considered, and off-target.

She's a weak public speaker, a horrible national face of the party, and the best of her leadership team on the national stage.
On a national level AOC is the most popular democrat in the house, but is obviously a long way from leadership. Which is fine, she's early in her career. What's sad is that the freshman nobody is able to steer more attention than the entire rest of the congressional leadership. I mean I dare anyone to listen to a Chuck Schumer speech and not yawn before the end, and he's the exciting one in leadership.

The question has already been asked of those who would prefer someone else... who, exactly?
Because we all know... continuing to complain about something, without offering a solution, esp. after having been specificially asked...
is just whining.
And, I would add (see above), often ignorant, lazy, and sloppy whining.
Directed at anyone? Yes. At anyone who fits that description.

Actually, I think my Rep Peter Welch could do a really good job of it.

Someone that can bring the fire, that is what is needed, Katie Porter for Speaker of the House.

OK - are we back in 7th grade & parsing sentences?
Freshman nobody = AOC maybe? Maybe not, but you've got an imagination. Steer more attention = would "garner" make you happier? Congressional Leadership = you're a bright guy, I bet you can figure that out. By all means let us know if you can't - we can start you on civics: there are 3 branches of government in the US. The legislative is made up of the senate and ______________________ [please fill in the blank]What's sad is that the freshman nobody is able to steer more attention than the entire rest of the congressional leadership.

I'm not sure why all the snark. I asked an honest question. I clearly said I was the one who wasn't 'getting it'. I didn't blame anyone for my failure. I offered no snark. Just a request for clarification.
OK... now I'm REALLY curious. I didn't get what he was saying in the first place, but you not only claim to, but are endorsing it?
What, exactly, DID he say there?
I got it once you paraphrased it. I fell down when I missed 'freshman nobody' as a phrase. I thought 'nobody' was the start of a new sentence fragment.
But again... what about my query inspired all the snark?

The old guard will be defending themselves from AOC, probably one of the least bribable members of Congress' you can bet on that! But it does seem exceedingly strange that to be in a leadership position in the US you have to be over 70.

You can't beat somebody with nobody, and nobody better has turned up.
You can't go to bed yet. It appears that Pless just failed to understand what AOC said - over on the other thread. Who's gonna chastise and insult him for this transgression? You seem to have appointed yourself 'reading comprehension Nurse Ratchet'...
