Default Just got back from COVID testing

I've had a sore throat for almost two weeks. Just on one side and not every time I swallow. But I also have Barrett's and have had a lot of pre-cancerous dysplasia removed from my oesophagus, so because I had no other symptoms, I dreadingly assumed if it prolonged it might be related to that.
I've also had increased difficulty breathing with my COPD, but again assumed it was related to that problem. I have been almost entirely self isolated. I live alone and my kids won't come near me because of fear passing the virus on to me, so I never considered I might have picked up the virus while shopping for necessities. Then today while I was posting on here, I realized my nose was running a lot. I called at 2pm and by 3:05 I had a swab up my nostril.
I can't leave the house for 72 hours until I get the results back..I'm almost hoping I test positive because I've been dealing with symptoms for 2 weeks and it might mean I'm holding it at bay and could be one of the many who get through it.

Yeah , I just read your comment on the other thread. Prayers up anyway. If they turn out to be just wishes and words, that's fine too. Pascal would understand.

I was at the dermatologist today to have a little cancer removed from my forehead. It's the second cancer this year, but it can't compare to the serious cancers that many people here have had.

Anyway, they had a sheet of paper at the sing in desk and asked, "Do you have any of the symptoms on the sheet?" I looked. It listed, "shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle or body aches, congestion, sore throat, cough, this and that..." I said, "I'm 65! I have those things all the time! But nothing new."

Not judging here but how does Mary and Jane affect your COPD? I'm curious for personal reasons.

    Good luck.

Oh my. Here is hoping your test is negative!

I learned a few days ago that a first cousin (the sister of my Secret Service Agent cousin) was diagnosed with COVID-19 and has since recovered. She says she has no idea how she got it. She is single. She has been working from home for months, has visited virtually no one, always wears a mask when outside her home, scrupulously washes her hands and uses hand sanitizer, and has only gone out to shop for groceries. Yet she got it. THAT is scary.

Community spread is a thing. And all of the precautions we can take before herd immunity is achieved are only that: precautions. None are 100% effective, though used in combination they provide a pretty good level of protection.

If. If virtually most everybody layers those precautions, which collective action will depress the amount of virus in general circulation.

As a 40yr+ "smoker" with COPD, I can testify to temporary lung clearing by moderate use. Seems to last as long as the buzz.

Floater go on Amazon and get yourself a finger pulse ox meeter. It will give you the first sign that you may have contracted Covid. anything below 96% go to the doctor.

Best of luck - I did the antibody test and was hoping for a positive as well, I was clean so far I haven’t contracted the virus.

Its an experience, isn't it! Mine came back negative, just a grade A man-cold. Anyway, good luck.

I hope you’re okay. Sending positive thoughts to you.

I just had the Covid-19 swabs done today. Both nostrils! Strange experience.

The nurse started to swab me and at some point I musta reeled back. She got annoyed. The second attempt went so deep my right eye started twitching.

I'm still getting over a cold that came on hard, and just a few days after I went out to a concert - close quarters with a couple of thousand people I didn't know. I called the doc and he agreed a test should be done. I got the negative back about 36 hours later (once 24 hours had passed I kind of new it was negative, they get those notifications out real fast).

Just talking to a colleague who's also had the test and we agree - that swab goes places that nothing ever should. Sort of stinging and burning that leaves an echo for many hours after the initial poke. I pity our managed isolation and border workers who are getting tested at least one a week.

My cousin, a lady in her late 50's, had the virus earlier this year. She developed Covid toe which necessitated the amputation of her left big toe. She now walks with a stick as her balance has been affected and will have to change her car for an automatic.
