Remember: Anyone who is pardoned no longer has 5th Amendment protection against self-incrimination. They can be forced to testify under oath, jailed for contempt if they don't, and jailed for perjury if they lie. In theory, were Trump still president, he could pardon them for that too - but he won't be, when the time comes..
Interestingly, one can refuse a pardon, and maintain the right to not testify.
