Put some new uppers on my favorite running shoes. Yeah, they’re rainbow strings. No, you want tease me about it. I promise.

I accidentally stumbled on hollowed out “550” cord for uppers two sets ago. I’ve had these same vibram soles made by Xero since… I don’t actually remember. I’ve run a few dozen half marathons (including two in the snow), a couple marathons, a 100k trail race, and I don’t even know how many laps on my 5 and 10k training loops. I think they’re 8 or 9 years old, and they have thousands of miles on them.

Still going strong. And, no I’m not sponsored, though I might should be. My last running shoe sponsor was New Balance. I ain’t got a shoe sponsor, now, but I am still sponsored by a team which pays race fees, if I want to race.

I usually don’t, anymore. Hahaha. I will still occasionally toe the line, though. Kiss some hands, shake some babies; that old song and dance…

Nah, I just got some cheap one I added a refillable cartridge to, so I can avoid buying disposable crap as much as possible. Thereís no way someone like a royal would waste time with a git like me.

Plus, itís convenient to blame the tool for poor performance.

Well, this drawing is almost done. I keep telling myself. Maybe another 15-20 hours. An absolute labor of love, as thereís no way anybody would ever pay what itís worth, unless I got paid pennies per hour. Meh. Eventually, Iíll be able to get some prints made and send one to the photographer as a thank you for permission to draw from her lovely art.

And, I got a new little pad to fill with idiot scribbles. These are tiny and fast, because they might could be cheap enough to sell to a person with no taste. And, if not, they keep me entertained.

Another day, another Doodle. It gets harder and harder to force myself to work on the realism drawings, so I do this dumb crap to satisfy the idiotic urge to scribble.

Ironically, Iíve gained about 12 pounds. I had to get rid of some clothes that donít fit, anymore. Iíve been running and riding and working out a lot to keep me healthy so I can work, and Iíve been eating a lot of food, for me.

Which is dumb to say, because that was a hilarious joke.

I would have had someone take a picture for me, but nobody wanted to ride today. I would have taken video, but I canít, for the life of me, figure out this damned GoPro. It gave me fits, so I put it back on the shelf before I lost my mind. More.

Aye. He is producing bricks, as the saying goes. Itís his first time in front of so large of a crowd, and that part is making him nervous. I keep reminding him that most of them will be drunk strangers who would rock out to someone banging on a garbage can with a hammer, but he wants to be perfect.

I then remind him that nobody is ever perfect. Except me. Hahahahaha.

They already have Halloween and New Yearís gigs booked, too.

    Good for him!
I gigged a little in bar bands at 18-23 yo. The drunks then all wanted to hear Freebird: play that dededlee-dededddlee part man! Please!!!

    Three songs later. Same thing.

But the good part was: girls!

They’re only doing two covers; The Hunt by New Model Army/Sepultura (it’s a blend of the two versions), and Symptom of the Universe by Sabbath. The rest are all originals, and new to the new lineup of the band.

We’ve only heard one of the new songs, so this show will be a real treat.

He’s also working his way into “the scene” and is working on promoting some shows of his own in the future. I’m excited to be the guy I needed when I was his age, and I’m 100% behind the entire venture. He has my unwavering support to pursue this dream as far as it will take him.

The crowd was deliberately cropped out. Only the Staff seemed to want to stand directly at the stage.

I had hoped readers of the thread would deduce that is The Quadzilla thrilling the crowd. Which was actually quite large.

A good time was had by all.

I am delighted. And hope there will be ways to hear the sounds.

Performing is no joke, learning to deal with nerves and all. Good on him!

There were several people recording videos and taking photos. I was not one of them, because I was standing in awe of my boy.

If and when I find out a source for links to the video footage, Iíll likely share it.

He absolutely played fearlessly and well. Three of the people who have guided him along his musical journey were in the crowd (one played in the band that went on after them), and he definitely impressed them all with his work and growth. I can say without boasting that he could absolutely stand on a stage with anyone Iíve ever seen perform.

Itís wonderful to see to see them become who they are.

It is brilliant, when it flies well. Being carried by the rhythm, by the energy of the crowd. Finding a way to let the energy extend the technique, instead of paralyze it.

There's a big name operatic tenor, retired in tge past decade or so, who limited his career to a handful of roles Largely because he'd never got a serious hold on his nerves. Stunning voice when he had his confidence high, but he found it really hard to get comfortable enough in short rehearsal periods to let his voice do what it could.

The kind of musician who could soar on recordings, was maybe better there.

cool. I was thinking it must be pre-show warm up, but glad to hear the crowd was there!

The photographer liked it, which is the most important part, really. This is no the first photo of hers Iíve drawn from, and hopefully wonít be the last.

Great fun. Now, I need to figure out how to make this pay.

For an art challenge called #boatober2022 issued by an invisible art friend of mine, I decided to do today’s with the digital paintbrushes rather than my usual pencils.
The goal/plan is to do a boat a day for the entire month.

    We shall see…
