Default Paul Johnson 14ft dinghy frame location

    Hi everyone

I am contemplating the build of a Paul Johnson 14 ft dinghy.
At the moment I am using a 12ft nesting version of a Bolger Teal and my next dinghy will have to be nesting as well to fit on the "big" boat a 32fter.
Does anyone know where the frame has to be on Johnson's dinghy?
What is the lenght when nested?
    Cheers

PEJ has several shapes/sizes of dingys.
round airex ones and SnG plywood ones.

This is the stich and glue plywood version Im talking about the one Paul has been using as a tender the last years similar to this thread http://forum.woodenboat.com/showthre...n-Dinghy/page2

I ve got the plans and found a building site and located some ply and wont be much sailing over the winter so would be the perfect time to build!

So, what do you mean by "frame"?
Do you mean the bulkhead at the front of the trunk or the temporary twobyfour for the flattenning device ?
How much detail is in the plan?

By frame I meant the two bulkheads where the bolts go to make the dinghy nests. This is where the rower seat and forward of that is where the centerboard case is located

In my set of plan I've got the table of offsets and the panel layout for the hull. Don't want to post here because the measurements are on it.
I know the bulkhead dimensions will depend of the boat shape I just need to know how far from the bow or stern that bulkhead has to be. It'll be a shame to cut the boat and find out the bow part doesnt nest into the aft part you know what I mean? I ll try to find a pic to explain things better

Johnson told me several years ago that publishing the offsets and lines to his boats here was cool. ..Anyone ever builds one, could send him some money ...I have published the offsets of his V2 and V4 boats here.
Anyway, the after end of the DB case is the location of the split. Front end is smaller, it goes in the back. A daggerboard or centerboard is most always going to be in the forward part of a boat.
So, does the plan have the board sketched in?
I would encourage you to build a nice scale model of the boat. Something a foot and a half long of good matt board.
