Default Where is the most enjoyable place for a passenger to sit?

As an exercise in concept, unconstrained by practical considerations and money for now, Where would you like to sit to enjoy both a passage and an evening after dinner at mooring on a large motor yacht and a sail yacht? Think comfy sofa.
assume a degree of motion damping due to size weight and sails/stabilizers. This is not about sea sickness avoidance, although bowsprit is probably not a good idea for that reason

Not an answerable question. Is it a sunny day? Rainy? Warm? Cold? Are we moored where there are mosquitoes? Rough water? Calm? Big boat? Small boat?

From my experience on charter schooners, if you have 25 passengers, there are 134 different favorite seating positions.

On my boat the most comfortable spot is sprawled on a cushion between mast partner and center frame.

As Thomas Firth Jones once wrote - "The best daysailers are less comfortable than the worst seat in your living room" Something like that, anyway.

If it's a nice day the best place is outside in a comfortable cockpit, assuming it has decent enough backrests - Ya know, a boat you sit IN, not ON. Maybe on the bridge deck, if you have one. Or better yet, the center deck of a large catamaran that has no deck house.

On a bad day, it's at home in the living room!

yes yes yes and yes. All the above. This is an INDOOR/PROTECTED seating position
Sunny) at the wheel in the cockpit, Rainy) in the pilot house with heat on if cold. Then sometimes on the foredeck leaning against a cushion on the forward end of the cabin. Then sometimes hanging out on the aft deck. Then, if there are nice views to one side or the other, sitting on the cabintop with feet on the deck. Then if looking for coral, sitting on a spreader (comfort there being the knowledge that you won't hit the coral).

    See? No one answer.

Your thinking like an owner/captain... think relaxing passenger )
Yes they will visit all those spots, but not for long. Where will they spend the hours during passage and the hours at anchor after dinner so they can "take it all in"

Actually, I was thinking of friends who have sailed with me. You can't "take it all in" from one place on a boat.

My Dad, who had more experiencing than I, said the wind gets tiring after a while. He had a 21 ft sailing dory, partly decked over. He said it was nice to sit on the floor boards with his back against the windward side. He had a good view to leeward but he was out of the wind. I guess someone else had the tiller.

In the sailing boat, in the seat.. there is only one..
On the motorboat, just propped up from flat out on a bunk, glass of whisky in one hand, a book in the other..
    Just an amateur bodging away..

    .

Exactly. The question is too broad.

There are two kinds of boaters: those who have run aground, and those who lie about it.

Why on earth do you have to be so unpleasant? What is with the "Oh please"??? You just posed a question poorly by not giving enough information. That's your fault so please don't be bitchy. Saying "think cozy sofa" is open to various interpretations.

At no stage did you give anyone any idea that it was an indoor seating position. You didn't say it was inside a mosquito net or any other shelter. You didn't say that being cozy was the main issue. You're just being rude and illogical.

Personally I can't see why the hell I'd bother to go afloat if the aim was sitting in an indoor sofa under a mozzie net for hours on end no matter what the boat was doing, and I wouldn't want to bring many people who were that boring* on my own boat.

*unless they had good reasons such as physical issues to prevent them from being more active, and people who were stuck down below probably wouldn't enjoy themselves anyway much of the time.

I'm wondering if maybe the poster is doing research for a psych degree or the like. Maybe on another forum he/she asked "Where's the most comfortable place to sit in a house?"
