Wooden boat ad and Gmail

I’ve had a number of inquires regarding Catnapper through the online ad with WB. Every last one that has had a Gmail email address has been fraudulent. Seems an odd coincidence.

Just trying to harvest your email address, or trying to buy the boat(?) with a cashier's check (fraudulent) and it picked up by a delivery service?

Had someone try that with a sail. Wrote that the transaction (in cash) could take place in the local Sheriff's parking lot. Oddly 'nough I didn't hear any more from them.

I just tell them I only take cash in person. That’s the end of that conversation.

San Antonio police recommended that and would provide a parking spot at the curb.

How did you discover that the email addresses were fraudulent?

I dunno about Reynard, but in my case the sending address kept changing. When I queried about it, the "purchaser" said she was an "event co-ordinator" and travelling. At that point I checked with the sheriff's office and they asked if I'd be willing to see it through to the "cheque" phase and suggested the transaction, if any, take place in the parking lot. I let it go to the point where they sent me a "check", mailed from Boston and drawn on a Philippine bank. I passed on all the info to their fraud department and we had a good chuckle over it. Never heard another word from the "customer".
