My poor little fella split a lip when a total f-wit roared from 4knots to full bore just a few meters ahead of us. massive plastic thing with a flyhouse. We were in a 15ft runabout i built. Little guy was at the bow and met the breast hook with his face, i was stunned at how deep the trough was. Swallowed the boat. i had enough time to get the bow into the wave so we rode over it, but genuinely scarey.
The guy didn't even look behind him. Never knew it happened.

The Alpha Hotels in the Bayliners around here seem to take a perverse pleasure in roaring down the channel with the throttles pegged until the NO WAKE bouy which they swamp time and again as they pull back and wallow in their own overtaking wake.

Is anyone really surprised that these dimwits endangered their own with their arrogant ignorance?

Two days ago I was leaving the Sag Harbor area of Eastern Long Island (think 300 ft mega yachts and $$$$$). I was cruising at a whole 8 knots (throwing very little wake at hull speed) and as I started overtaking about a 19ft sailboat under power, a considerate 25 yards or so to his stbd some guy in about a 40 ft sport fisherman came up from behind at about 18 knots and shoehorned himself through between us throwing a good 4+ foot wake at both of us. The whole time he was passing us I sounded five lengthy blasts on the horn. The guy never even turned his head. Sadly he had an inflatable strapped against his transom so I wasn’t able to get a name or port of call. He pretty much tossed both of us on our beam ends.
