Pretty cute so it is. My wife and I used to keep lizards back in the day. Geckos and Anoles mainly, but we had some more exotic species too, like Chameleons.

Cutie! Whenever I get to Florida I am amazed by all the anoles running around everywhere. They are so delightful, but that little fellow is even cuter.

I just love little lizards - one of the best things about going south for some sun. I didn't know you had them in Victoria!

What are you doing about it?

These are transplants. Garter snakes are the only reptiles native to the island but they are exceedingly rare anywhere domestic cats roam free.

Five to six inches fully grown. That little one on my elbow was barely two inches. One of this summer's hatchlings.

I would not be on foot on Komodo Island ever. However, I do wonder how the ecosystem survives. It's not a particularly big island. I can imagine the predators clearing out their food supply some season and then starving because there is no influx of new meat.

I did see a dragon at a zoo once and it was impressive!

That little fellow looks a lot like the skinks we get here. I have noticed an increase in numbers over the last few years.
As a kid I made the mistake of picking one up by the tail which I was left holding in my hand as its owner ran away.

They are quite entertaining and prolific as can be. We have a huge crop of babies this time of year and I'm pretty sure this is the cause.

Interesting dance they do for the leadup. You can't tell if they're gonna fight or fornicate.

Our house is screened in, but somehow a lively ecosystem keeps leaking inside. Tiny bugs enter, spiders grow fat on them, and lizards establish spider-rich territories. The dogs are never allowed to chase wildlife outside, but inside the house they manage the lizard population. I save the ones I can, but new ones take the place of the fallen as quickly as they are killed. Three species, mainly. They keep the baby tarantulas from growing too big...

Are they lizards, or salamanders? Their skin doesn't look too scaly, but it's hard to tell.

What are you doing about it?

They are Skinks. The Geckos are less common.
