I have to admit I just snagged it off the web (bad Garret!) - so I'm not the one to ask...

I wondered about a pedestal once, but it was a fleeting thought. Many are, come to think about it.

I just remembered some porch art. It involves a boat hull and a story.

Oh, you have a porch art for that sort of thing?

Compared to your whole temple of the wouldn't boat thing it is nothink. A meagre offering, yet of great ,cough, forensic interest. I will photo it when the light emerges in the sky.

We also inherited a 7 ft glass dinghy that was a planter in an inconvenient spot, so that was emptied and moved up to our little lookout with the tree bench thing I made one morning in lock down. Well, first we carved a lookout out of the bush and bracken.

Rushed out, didn't get the 'Gypsy donut hole 'hull photo.

Lookout bench and the glass dinghy, the ex planter.
It's rubbed through the hull in multiple places so not viable for repair.

    Rick wants that.
I drove past a giant purple 'watering can' made from tyres today.

RICK'S WATERING CAN! I will try and get a photo even if it's a risk.

This form of land art has been very much on my mind lately as we're actually landscaping the backyard (although landscaping is a rather grand term for building a garden in a 3m x 6m courtyard). So, pot hunting, we've been. But many alternatives to pots, rocks and plants to adorn the wide, open spaces have been found and admired. You'll be disappointed to hear that we haven't actually acquired any of these but here are some samples:

A giant purple watering can made from tyres! That would be worth having! I do want to see the photo!!

So, maybe we'll go a bit more conservative than giant frogs. These pelicans are life size, so they'd look okay. I think the giant rabbits might upset the neighbours:

Tell me you walked away without wishin' that Moai was yours, I won't believe it.
The purple tyre tea pot is too far from the road to get a viable photo, I tried but as I did the running dive roll under the rail fence an attack dog or rabbit emerged from the yukkas. I caught sight of it only, for it was silent , like any good predator. I made my escape back to the Transit, which was inconspicuously parked behind the agapanthas at the roadside.
    Didn't get the pic.

There's an old art gallery near us that's been converted to twin houses. In a nod to the founder and enthusiastic former gallery owner, the new owners commissioned a stone carving of the former owner's head and had it planted on a plinth right at the footpath. It's a nice gesture and well carved but it's too big, so grotesque. I call it the Moai. I don't want any Moai reproductions at all, true.

I'll wait for the opportunity to obtain a real one....

Gauguin carved caricature gate posts of his local priest and his mistress as a swipe at the guys double standards. Which was true of course, but coming from that character was a bit of a joke in itself.

I'm inspired. Today I'll take some photos of the various creatures that do actually inhabit our garden (jungle). The place we've nearly finished doing up in the city has no (yikes!) garden sculptures - just bits of stone, brick, plants and naive attempts at a watering system. But our place at Pt Stephens has a garden surrounding the piles of rubble I call `renovation projects' and that garden has some. You will be thrilled by one of them. Thrilled.

Oui! Especially with those bandy legs! Along with the historical blotches all over them. Almost spooky - I feel transported!

A local traffic island that got restructure a couple of years ago. There was a big delay between the roadworks guys leaving and the landscapers coming in, so the locals took it upon themselves to beautify it in the interim:

It was quite cool for a while, then it got wrecked by someone hooning straight over it. The subsequent rebuild was completely overdone with a pink panther on a sun lounger and so many accouterments it just ended up looking like a rubbish pile.

I should compliment you on your old CQR anchor decorative installation! I already have one in the garden but I see you have a series! Inspired! I'll have to see if I can find some more in the shed. I wonder if Rocna have any idea of the contributions to land art their activities have caused?
