Looking for a bottle...

..for the next project: Francis Chichester's Gypsy Moth in a bottle.
But not a yacht- his DH 60 Gypsy Moth aircraft.
Whether I can manage that sort of dexterity has yet to be seen, but I'll have a go.

Will have to go round to the pub and see if I can look through their glass recycling bins.

You could always hit the local liquor store, if Mull has such, and purpose-buy a suitably-shaped bottle. And decant it. And drink it while you work. (Or maybe after, in the interests of dexterity.)

Not only do we have several stores selling booze, but we have two distilleries, producing whisky and gin.
The White Tail Gin bottles are oval, and may do, but at £38, I am not tempted!
I could maybe drive 20 miles to the distillery for an empty bottle, if the local pubs have no empties.

The whisky I knew about. The gin doesn't surprise me; on encountering its proliferation on my last trip to Edinburgh, I learned that it's essentially a by-product of whisky production, which has likewise increased dramatically. We have an excellent Islay gin in with the top-shelf non-whisky liquors.

I once told the missus that I'd thought about making a little wooden sailing ship and then stuffing it into a bottle, completely destroying it in the process and just leaving a bit of mast sticking out- maybe some string. Put it on a little stand on the mantle piece with a plaque saying "Ship in a bottle- first attempt". She said it's been done- she's actually seen one! Some now I have to come up with another idea... This one might be a bit opaque.....Wide at the shoulders, narrow at the hips. Big John. Good shape for housing a little ship.
I'm emptying the contents now. Tastes teriffic!
