    Hey Knot Guy,,
    You ever heard of an "Alpine Knot" used for tying shoelaces?
    A fellow showed me this knot decades ago.
    It is like a regular shoelace tie, but with a little extra something that I fergit.Sort of how a constrictor knot is so close to a clove hitch...
    The knot does not untie as easily as the regular one.
    The cotton laces in mty "mallwalker"shoes wear out quickly and I replace them with nylon seine twine , but that stuff will not hold a knot for long.
    any love for a chap here?

    Maybe a slipped surgeon's knot? It would have an extra initial twist before tying the bow:

    Or maybe some variation on the alpine bend? I'm not sure you could lace the shoes very tightly with this, but it probably won't slip loose.
