Looks like the bottom half of a bolger windsprint that is topped off.. for balast and flotation? then flairs out with a transom on the top half.

It really is quite difficult to build an ugly wooden boat.

Carlos, welcome to the forum. There's a lot more information and some sketch plans for the Irish Gandelow here. http://www.beautement.com/Boats/15-f..._gandelow.html

    Hi Carlos,

(apologies that the reply is 2 years too late!)

Yes, that's a new gandelow being built at the Ilen Maritime School in Limerick in 2014 (for the City of Culture celebrations). Four were built.

In addition to gandelow links below, see this wikipedia page:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gandelow

The old one by the water is a classic gandelow (the oak pads at the stem and stern post are typical, as is the net locker platform at the stern).
They were community salmon fishing / reed cutting boats that rarely lasted more the 20 years or so. As they were used on the Shannon river in western Ireland, even going out a little way into the Atlantic, keeping a rotting boat was not a good idea so new ones were, until more recently, always being built.

    Hope this helps

    Best wishes, Patrick B
