    Default Zero cases!

Zero active cases, 17 days with no new cases, and level 2 lockdown (which wasn't very strict anyway) ends at midnight.

Self-isolation and testing rules for people who feel sick are still in place, and the border is all but shut, but apart from that, Level 1 means no more restrictions.

The downside is I might have to wash and dress myself tomorrow before starting work tomorrow, as it might involve actually going to the office.

Yes congratulations, that's great news. Long may it continue.

Although it didn't affect me personally anything like as much as it did a lot of others, it still feels as though the hobbles have been taken off and the load lightened. We'll never be able to go back to the "normal" we used to have, its just not there any more. There will be ongoing consequences, some of which are obvious but some of which I am sure will ambush us, but we'll be out there making ourselves a brand new "normal", which is good. There were things about the old one that I didn't much like anyway.

Scotland saw a significant landmark this weekend..

No new deaths to coronavirus have been registered in Scotland in the past 24 hours for the first time since the early days of the pandemic.

I have little doubt that this will tick up again, especially after the recent protest marches, but a step forward nevertheless.

Its good news, but as someone who was recently invited, your borders will apparently remain closed to the rest of the world, except perhaps Australia, till at least next year......

. . . and the US of A is still seeing hundreds and hundreds of death a day.
In the US this perverted idea of “blood and soil” over “constitutional principles” is the most radical and anti-democratic and anti-Conservative idea I have heard in my lifetime.

The worrying thing is that the number of known infected is now over two million.

I think that in time we'll see a South Pacific isolation bubble that includes the likes of Fiji, Samoa, Cooks and Niue along with Aussie and NZ.

That will allow some tourism among us to rebuild shattered economies, some freedom to travel and explore, and for the very family orientated Pacifica people to re unite with their relatives in the countries where they're spread around.
