    [QUOTE=jtdums;6460294]I think it looks outstanding.

    Thanks Jim!

It was your boat-build that got me going. And thanks for the detailed "how- to" on the deck.

    Regards.

    Hello Frans,

That's a very nice looking runabout you've built!
I especially like the combination of the bright finished deck with the painted top-sides.
I bet your wife will enjoy 'sporting' around in it. Maybe she'll even give you a ride on occasion!?!

    Regards,
    Alan

We launched our little runabout in St Francis bay, South Africa today after an 18 month build

It was a bit windy so we only took a short spin on the river, bumpy and wet. Then cruised the canals at idle speed.
Tomorrow we'll head up-river for a picnic if the weather is good.

It does not seem to me like this is a good idea. If the plan called for this, I think the plan/design was lacking

This is not a lot of tumblehome, and cutting it up defeats the whole purpose of bending the ply, no?

    Thanks Jim,

Thanks to you for posting your build and getting us to build the RB14 as well.

The boat has seen quite a bit of use over the days since launching. We're getting 20 kts out of her with a 15hp two stroke Yamaha and two of us onboard, 17 kts with the addition of two fat dogs and two beers. That is perfect for our use.
She floats nicely on her lines with a 25 litre fuel tank under the fore deck.

In the new year I'll start looking for an old 25 hp Mercury to give the boat the right look.

    Regards.

    Hallo Jeff,

Thanks. We have fitted an old 15 hp Yamaha, simply because we already had it.

I will look for an old 25 hp Mercury in the new year. It should compliment the retro look of the boat.

    Regards.

    Hallo Bruce,

The method of forming the tumblehome worked out pretty well. It was built as per the designer's specs.
The first panel was a bit tricky to get right, the second one no problem. The sides are done with 6 mm plywood. It would have required a lot of torturing to get that radius without the cuts.
The hull was skinned in f/g and epoxy, inside and out so there is no problem with strength. Fairing it out was quick.

    Regards.

I'm very glad the posting was helpful. We continue to enjoy our RB every summer and have no complaints. Some day I would like to step up and build its "big brother" the RB18.
We have been know to load up two and a rather fluffy dog in the single seat model so I'm sure two with two dogs in yours is a great fit!
