Default I've got a bad boat idea

I've been looking at rebuilding the arch on my sailboat. Right now it's a 40 year old aluminum framework, that's showing it's age, but is solid enough. But I just replaced the stanchions and safety lines up front with a hard rail made of laminated oak. And having gone that far, and liking the way it looks, I'm eyeing the back rail and arch. Has anyone seen a back arch made of wood, or glass/wood composite? I know the arch is really best made out of metal, the strength/weight and low cross section are very hard to beat. But if I could make it look cool...that might be worth it.

That's actually an old picture of my boat. You can see the forward angled arch it still has right now. It's strong enough to hold my fat butt in the air still, but there's obvious corrosion going on near the deck and a few other spots. When I replaced the stanchions up front the 1/4inch thick tube wall had corroded through in spots and a couple of them had broken. The back is in slightly better shape, but I'd like to at least match the oak railings.
