In other news, the daffodils are starting to bud.

What's a Yankee rake doing down your way?
As far as the daffodils go - please see my post of my barn a few up. Better than what I might say if I typed something...![]()

My father bought that rake many years ago. I can't remember us ever using it. I did spend quite a few hours riding on that mower. I am tempted to see if I can get it working again.
As for posting pictures -- my policy is to size my pictures, and then copy light -- jpg photo format is a lossy format. When I'm going to post a picture, I usually size it 800 pixels wide, and save a copy at 35% of jpeg information. The resulting posted picture is very fast to load, and as far as I can see (note: I am blind) the images do not suffer any for viewing. Yes, posting this way is an intentional two step process, (it really doesn't take that much time) and I've never had a problem (yet) posting. YMMV, of course.

Yes, I saw your barn photo. We already had our inch of snow for this winter, that was enough of that.

One time I was pulling my then 9 or 10 year old brother on one - going down a big hill & the pin came out of the hitch. The tongue dropped, but did not dig in & he went past me with a rather alarmed expression on his face. That's not an implement you want to fall in front of!
Luckily, he had the presence of mind to bail out backwards.

One of the advantages of growing up where the only hills are the levee and Indian mounds. My father did once run the tractor wheel over a bumblebee nest in the ground. I was on that mower above them when a bunch of mad bees came out. I bailed off and dove into the ditch behind this property.
Gorgeous barn, Garret.

This is one of my favorite places on Humboldt Bay. On days of really high tides, the streets flood. It's directly in line with the entrance channel, so any storms push water on-shore.

Haven't been here in quite a few years, but I'm sure it still looks like this now, because I've often been here in the winter.

That's V2... committed, and just about to go airborne.
It's been unseasonably warm so far this winter, but more wet and gloomy as well. That hasn't made much difference to me since I'm in the shop most of every day, but this morning it was sunny so I went for a much needed walk in the fresh and dust free air, and I remembered the camera.
I don't have a cell phone so one spontaneous photo/day won't happen with me but there can be occasional groups. Here are a few from today's walk where I followed a brook for a while. It dries up in the summer. Like I said, it's been wet.

This is in my opinion the nicest waterfall on the island, and just about nobody knows about it. The photos don't do it justice. I think it would easily fill a 24" culvert. Every time I see it I get thinking about home hydro and free heat in the winter, but, alas, that won't happen since it's in the 500 acre ecological reserve next door.
