When I first started drag racing my Harley, 1974, they matched me up against one of these which had a formidable reputation, I still remember it, a root beer brown color with wheelie bars out behind. My bike was a coffee machine, with road racing gear, and I had no clue how it would run.
My post from page 2...FWIW
What a egocentric and vindictive move...
I'm currently thinking of getting back on a bike after a 5 year semi enforced break and those 400 pages were to be one of my main research resources.
What a totally selfish act!
Edited to add:
I have just received a message from Ian in which he asserts strongly that he did not delete the Motorbikes thread on the forum. He also states that he has not posted, deleted or taken any other action on the forum for the past 8 weeks. He also says that Scot has deleted every thread he (Ian) has ever posted to the forum.
This is pretty much exactly as I received it,

That is what Ian asked Scot to do.

i normally don’t like automobile engine motorbikes, but this one is exceptional
thank you for posting it
lots of very trick stuff on it: dry sump, the bell housing mating to to the guzzi five speed, and the twin radiators in the saddle bags to name just a few
and it’s lighter than many production cruisers

Yes Paul, I have been a fan of that bike (and that engine) for years. I posted it a couple of years ago on the other thread, but it received no notice.
When I was still in high school I could carry a V-8 60 and load it into my truck by myself! A tiny little thing, 136 cu in or roughly 2 liters. Without the ancillary stuff they sounded like an electric motor, they would run 6-7000 rpm with a
little work. One of the beauties of a flathead is when they float the valves they don't crash. That and no pushrods! I still want to build an TD using one. An Ardun set-up would be the thing. Nice TD's are going for a song these days...

Most boring bike.....

It got a lot less boring when the owner tried to set the timing - the crank turns backwards!

And now for something completely different.....

Weird gearshift - the went 1 down up to neutral - two - three - neutral - four, with the occasional false neutral between two and three. Spicing things up the shift lever doubled as both the kickstart (press in with heel and lit backwards over TDC with toe) and , yes really - and - clutch lever by means of an internal fork which actuated the multi-plate clutch when lifted or pressed down.

The first bike I ever rode. It made considerable efforts to ensure that it was also the last one I ever rode.

No, sold it years ago. Honda 400/4 engine, everything else robbed from scrap yards. It wasn't the best bike for me, but building it was mostly the point. I learned a huge amount from my mistakes, and had a lot of fun and met some really interesting people who were into custom bikes. One guy in Southampton used to cast his own piston heads in his shed. Met a lot of fabricators who would help, machinists, hells angels, general bikers... it was a good bunch to know. The front end was too heavy, forks too long, only suspension was 3 inches of rubber outside the rear wheel, terrible maneuverability, and the damned rectifier kept blowing leaving me stuck in a geographical anomaly; about 50 miles from everywhere. But it looked cool, and sounded great! 4 into 4 long horizontal drag pipes.. they were louder than howitzers... !
Yeah it was a bit crap, but it was my crap.
my chihuahua desert bike, bastardized, worn out rattletrap islo.

My third bike was a '71 numbers matching Norton that I got in '85 as a basket case. She evolved over the first 5 years........Roadster tank and seat, 4" over disc front end with "ape hangers" from a Highrider, with the oil tank and side cover from an early Fastback. I made my own oil filter mount to use an Omni filter as the OE filter was $13 as compared th the CTC @ $4. She also had an ampmeter in the headlight shell that was discontinued model year '70. BTW the disc brake was not available till '74 while an oil filter was introduced '72. Don't know what I did wrong but with (GASP) Lucas electrics marrying three schematics I managed a 7 amp charge with the lights on @ 900 rpm. Kept her for 22 years, damn I miss that machine.
