Don't think the Scrambler has ever been near a dirt road, much less in the boonies.

that's a crazy motor - mismatched heads, cylinders, and case
and then to top it all off is that a bsa frame and tank?

    I don't know but I like it
Still trying to figure out the engine
Maybe W (45) cases with K oil-pump, cylinders and heads?

    BSA Transmission too - no?

Definitely a nice looking bike. The Square 4 behind it ain't too shabby neither.

I rode one up this mountain - the bike on the right. I was on a CRF 250 as we started up the access track, but there was a bit of slippery red clay and the owner was struggling, so I gave him the CRF and took over the Ducati Scrambler

There's a couple of Honda 500Xs with us too. Wasn't too difficult, but Nige dropped my CRF on the way down and dislocated his shoulder. Having a guy who was a Corpsman with the Marines in Iraq (etc) with us helped.

those are both crazy numbers for this type of bike - 150 pound less than the big katoom adventure bike and thirty more hp. . .

Indeed, crazy numbers. Have to wonder about where the savings were. Forks / wheels not much good for unsealed roads.... and I don't know how tyres for same would handle the power, but would be interested to try it.

To make room for the heads, I bet the tank is reduced to about 1 gallon!

    That Norton's a beauty.

@ George - sure looks like a 305 - though they made a 160 that looked very similar.

18YO me decided that my Commando needed a tank like this one. I spent days building a FG "copy" of it. It ended up looking like a 6 YO's clay project so I gave up & bought a Dunstall tank. Lo & behold, it fit & didn't leak!

7 hours set up is about right if you have a peg board full of different size gears.
(Different by a couple thousandths of an inch ea.)

Today is the day all motorcycle/scooter registrations expire in Maine. Time register them all. Maine has an excise tax so that has to be paid first for each one.

I had one bike, a BSA 500, that was registered in Vermont. It had come in from Burma and been registered there from Thailand by the guy who imported it. All rather strange. I've still got the plate... on the wall in the Central Perk cafe.
section. The bike went during the Covid.
