The ducati 916 has one of the most beautiful, powerful notes ever. The dry clutch as a matching response.

Without friends none of this is possible.

Can't believe that thread has gone.

400+ pages, mostly other people's contributions.

didn't expect his ego-ness to actually delete anything, and certainly not anything so populated.

    ah well.

This news is really disappointing. He didn't need to do that one. at 400 pages - it belonged to the forum. I used to love to see Peter's submissions to it.

A little audio to go with the visual.

Continuing the theme of wicked sounding bikes, the CBX1000.
    Yeah, it's real.

Two days ago I was riding beside a small clean looking creek and thought it would be a good campsite if I could find a way down. I found a narrow track with relatively fresh wheel tracks and started to follow it .

Mistake 1 . I should have walked it ..... but it looked OK.

The track went 40 feet then ran down onto clean white sand . Mistake 2. I should have walked it !!
As soon as my front wheel hit the sand it sunk in to the brake disc, I couldn't turn around and I was committed and in deep ! The next few minutes were spent trying to maneuver a heavily laden bike in incredibly deep sand .

    I was bogged !

I unloaded the bags and the panniers and spent the next 30 minutes in heaving and grunting, Tilly would move forward about 2 feet but by then would have dug herself a new hole, (the sand was full of water and this strangely enough also helped the situation.) At this stage I'd lift shut the motor off, lift Tilly's rear end up and the sandy slurry would slump into the hole. Start engine , gain 2 feet . Repeat as required . Eventually I was able to gain drier sand and made better progress. The next problem being a fallen tree that forced me back close to the water .

This is the one time an enclosed rear drive has proven superior to a chain and sprocket drive, the "sand" was decomposed granite with a 1/4'' to 1/8'' grain size. I suspect it would have played hell with a chain and the gearbox end where the final drive appears.

I eventually got back to hard ground but it was a work out ! Next time I shall look, especially when I see that coarse white granite sand .

After I have looked I shall AVOID !

Here's my ride, just before setting off from near Koln..eventually landed in Oxford a few days later. Got a ferry from Rotterdam to Harwich.. 50 Euros including the bike! That seat bag shifts my butt too far forward, but it all works ok otherwise. Top box full of tools, chain lube etc, and space for my helmet. Bike cover on top.

I had these heat shields made up to keep the soft panniers away from the exhaust.. they work a treat.

This is what it looked like when I got it...quite a few mods and farkles since then.

From what I see, it looks as if Ian did a Donn. Have I missed something? Donn was no loss but Ian had some good stuff going on
