    Methods of payment for WBM.

I've been renewing my subscription every year/two years for the past 40 years or so.
Has management ever thought of automatic payment/renewal by either automatic withdrawal or from a credit card kept on record? I do this with my Sirius Radio subscription and it works out well.
It would make things easier for those who renew year after year and also save WBM the bother of contacting those subscribers. It would also help prevent lapses in subscriptions and missed issues. Probably less work for the subscription department also.
    Just a thought.

I usually just renew at the boat show. Sometimes get a free hat, sometimes a $10 cash rebate.

Fab idea indeed. As seen at the footer of the WB sub page:

          WoodenBoat Continuous Service Program

In the interest of conserving paper waste on multiple notices and never missing an issue, we provide continuous service for WoodenBoat Magazine and will automatically renew your subscription at the best rate available with guaranteed savings off the newsstand price. We will always send you a reminder before your card is charged. If the credit card you provided cannot be processed a bill will be sent.

Also: there is a similar option for Small Boats Monthly Magazine, the on-line mag:

          Your Subscription

          • Subscription Name: Yearly
          • Subscription Length: 1 year
          • Recurring: Yes

Does it work for those of us outside the USA?I have a few months before I need to renew.

I always renew at the show and generally get a bit of a discount.

In the latest renewal notice I got in the mail, there is no option to sign up to have automatic renewal. I can renew with a credit card, but it doesn't state that I can check a box to automatically renew in the future. Perhaps this can be amended in the future for those who renew by mail and not through the WoodenBoat site.
As it turns out, I called WB and was told my subscription isn't up for another year anyway. I guess premature renewal notices get sent out by mistake now and then.

Thanks for the heads-up. Duly noted and passed up the food-chain.

Not to be a PITA (though I'm good at it) - they go out more often than "now & then". Last year I probably got at least 6 - even though I was still getting the magazine & continued to do so. I've basically just accepted that I have to wait until I don't get an issue, then renew.

Amazon seems to offer auto renewing subscriptions to WoodenBoat. When I didn't use autorenew, amazon always failed to notify me of coming expirations.

EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention that the threat of giving out cc#'s has become real to me for the first time in decades. I caught a bunch of fraudulant pending charges due to my setup of a foreign charge alert. Had to nuke the card # with all the attendant inconvenience. I assume this was stolen by some small time recipient of the number, so this is a motive for me to use a big name middleman like Amazon.
