    Default Gone to Shiloh

A line in another thread reminded me of this, with the line, “When flags and bullets start to fly.”

Absolutely great lyrics by Bernie Taupin, and from one of my favorite albums with Elton John and the late great Leon Russell. On the album one of the verses is sung by Neil Young.

I remember visiting the battlefield at Shiloh when I was young. I need to go back. My father was born not too far from there.

I have been to Shiloh 3 times. It is a haunting beautiful place. You can smell the linger there. The spirits of the number lost still haunt the place which take many miles to leave behind. Strange phenomenon- the same type that lingers at Gallipoli, Manassas & Gettysburg, Iwo Jima, Beaches of Normandy, along the French trenches, and many other places where many men have died in horror.
