The latest rww meme is that to criticize Israel is anti-semetic. Despite being an apartheid state Israel is not to be subjected to criticism.

Erm, From the official definition of Anti Semitism
Denying the Jewish people their right to self-determination, e.g., by claiming that the existence of a State of Israel is a racist endeavor.

I dunno that he's pulling strings so much as he's making a smokescreen.

I am not denying the Israeli people the right to self-determination. I am criticizing their government's policy.

Is the policy not debated within Israel? If a Jew criticizes Israeli government policy is he engaging in anti-semetism? Or is it only anti-semetism if a gentile criticizes the government of Israel?

I totally agree, I think that the "official" Definition is as flaky as get-go.

I cant decide if I'm more embarrassed about this silly episode as a Jew who once lived and worked in and loved Israel or as an American who is overwhelmed every day by our government's continuing assault on every civilized norm.

Why not let them have a trip? They can pay for hotels, meals, pieces of the original cross, etc,. Now they're going to be martyrs and the GNP is not going to be helped at all.

    Just disgusting.

Actually with the true definition of what a Semite is.. Representative Omar is just as much a Semite as anybody of Jewish Heritage. Can she be Anti-Semitic when she herself is a Semite?

"“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep. Tlaib to visit,” Trump wrote on Twitter Thursday morning. “They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds"

So why are we sending them 3 billion a year of our tax dollars, if they don't allow free speech.

Then why are we boycotting Iran, North Korea, and Cuba? We shouldn't be hurting those people who are depending on their jobs. Surely we can just encourage businesses we like?

    Because Trumpism celebrates hurting people.

This has become a local issue as Rashida Tlaib is one of two women in Congress who represent the City of Detroit and many of the surrounding suburbs. She was born in this area, attended charter schools and went through law school in Western Michigan. Her parents immigrated here from Nicaragua, having previously left the Israeli-occupied section of Palestine. She won the U.S. Congressional seat after serving in the state legislature, representing a district that is predominately Hispanic. The 13th district in a classic case of gerrymandering, with the lines drawn by the Republicans to concentrate the Democratic vote. That resulted in a primary that put a white woman in an office held by decades by John Conyers, one of the mainstays in the Black Caucus in Washington. He resigned at the age of 80, following charges of sexual harassment. The district includes much of the downriver suburbs, which are a checkerboard of blue-collar neighborhoods of multiple ethnic groups. Something of a hothead, the has been calling for Trump's impeachment, and supports a boycott against Israel, want's them to withdraw from Palestine.

Odd question, but several news media have done stories on Muftiya Tlaib, a woman identified as the grandmother Tlaib supposed to visit. Problem is that the Congresswoman is divorced, and Tlaib is her married name. Her maiden name is Harbi. How can this be?

From your link what they adopted was:

“Anti-Semitism is a certain perception of Jews, which may be expressed as hatred toward Jews. Rhetorical and physical manifestations of anti-Semitism are directed toward Jewish or non-Jewish individuals and/or their property, toward Jewish community institutions and religious facilities.”
    They went on to say:

Manifestations might include the targeting of the state of Israel, conceived as a Jewish collectivity. However, criticism of Israel similar to that leveled against any other country cannot be regarded as anti-Semitic.
What you quoted was an example of what might be antisemitism.
