Sorry hard to do links on the phone. In Sydney, Oz yesterday an apparent lone wolf terrorist was running around stabbing and slashing people with a knife or something. Couple of bystanders tackled him and pinned him down with a plastic milk crate and an office chair until the law turned up. That's how we do it here.

We should issue our cops with milk crates. They have a bad habit of shooting mentally ill people.

It's strange how most people run away from situations like that and others run to it.

In a place I worked someone attempted to snatch the payroll when it was delivered in the foyer. Someone dropped an office chair on him from 3 stories up. The chair's ergonomic qualities did not help the robber at all.

Indeed they are but it doesn’t mean they deserve to be killed. A plastic chair is a good tool to use in cases like this.

I have a fold up collapsable milk crate which I take everywhere with me for this very purpose.

and yes, I do have a permit to carry it.

Our cops have them but they don’t always stop really crazy people. It was a good outcome considering.

The powerful NMCA has called for open-carry laws to be introduced in all Australian states, in the wake of the Sydney stabbing yesterday.
NMCA president Dwayne LaCtose said Australians should be able to carry an unconcealed milk crate in public places as a means of self defense, noting that the Sydney attack was minimised because a man was openly carrying a milk crate.
“The only way to stop a bad guy with a knife is with a good guy with a milk crate,” LaCtose said.
“It should be an Australians’ right to be able to go to the movies, to the supermarket, to the pub carrying a milk crate”.
He said there had been a surge in purchases of milk crates in the past 24 hours, with some people stockpiling dozens of milk crates. “Particularly at supermarkets, cafes – places where lots of people congregate – we’re seeing a lot of milk crates being stored”.
He called for signs to be introduced at airports stating ‘This is an open carry state’ with an accompanying picture of a milk crate.

“I will never give up my crates. It’s time to make Australia crate again”.

So - do you buy 'em or steal 'em?

Meanwhile - one other implement was also used in capturing this nutter.... and nutter he is - he'd escaped from a mental institution (looks to me like an ice addict) - that was a crowbar. Crowbars are very useful... but hard to carry concealed.

    If
Australia is gun free/safe? why do your police carry guns.

Because we allow the US Navy into our ports. The ships always leave port minus a lot of handguns. If you guys would stop selling guns to the baddies here, we'd be fine.

So despite a lack of landbased borders, you still have issues with illegal border issues!

    Thanks.

    I think mine are procreating.
I cannot recall ever acquiring a single milkcrate ever, yet i have maybe 6 in my shed.
I wonder where the first ones came from - maybe the bastard children of a chance encounter between a bike basket and the crisper drawer in the fridge....?

There was a time when they didn’t. Given they are not allowed to carry milk crates or chairs then a gun is the next best option.

The plastic coat-hanger is the larval form, perhaps they pupate in ditches.

One can often tell an outdoorsman by the waffle-butt that results from the use of standard-issue economy seating in many skiffs and duckblinds. Ranks with the discarded five-gallon bucket for ubiquity.

We shouldn’t forget that a young woman was brutally murdered by this character.
