That pose is just perfect - the lean, the tilt of the head. "Whaat.. what is that?" And the lighting! What a talent!

Right? Full disclosure, he got a few burns during testing for the “explosion” shot I posted. He had protection on, but caught a few sparks.

The sacrifices artists make for their trade, eh? Really a fabulous talent.

Sometimes hours. What’s really funny, not really, is when one of his dudes falls right before he’s about to take the picture.

I don’t know. You either have an eye, or don’t. After you learn that, you learn the art, and it becomes good stuff.

i figured it would at least be a few hours. but i could also see it taking a whole weekend of tweaking hands and placing the dirt and smudges to get it just like he likes it. isn't it funny what kids lock onto and make a go of it? ole quad might end up making movies some day.

Me neither. He’s a scum turd.

That table turns both ways, though. And, much as it pains me sometimes, I must be the best citizen I can be.
And I demand my kids be, as well.

Now, citizen trump? Convicted felon trump? Oh, totally fair game.

The dewback pictures are from Easter. He just broke out his toys and headed up the hill to shoot pictures.

Seven teenaged kids went with him. To willingly help!

He’s something else, that’s for sure. He is certainly somebody I’d have LOVED to have a a friend growing up.

    Peace,

Robert, when my youngest was about 4 I planted huge sunflowers outside their bedroom window. One day I was cleaning up and looked out the window that was closed. There was a huge sunflower about a foot in diameter hanging upside down.
On the back of the sunflower was a town scene created from Monopoly pieces. Outside the flower was about 7’ off the ground but she got to it from the window reaching out from the top of their bunk bed. Cracked me up.

Been following your son since... he has real talent. I wonder where he will go and will love to see him now expand.

Love the photos, they show true talent and creativity. Thanks so much for posting these, Rob.

It also occurred to me that in addition to being works of art in their own right, photos like these could be used to produce a Storyboard for a movie.

A few years ago someone tried a similar thing with Barbie and Ken dolls.
    I think Matell sued.

Silly really, it was free publicity.

OTOH someone also made a porn movie with them, I'm not sure they sued, didn't want the extra publicity………….

He does a lot of Articulated Comic Book Art, wherein fans copy comic book cels with actual figures.

It was his ACBA that got him a little gig. He is a sponsored/featured artist for one company. He provides 4 photos per month for their site.
He also makes figures and props. He makes these amazing cowboy hats from toilet tissue. The tissue and latex paint make a certain texture that... well it’s perfect!

He is currently making a figure from a popular video game franchise. Then, he’ll sell or trade it for some other guy or lady, or monster.

I think and Ultraman v. Godzilla series is actually in the works.

    Peace,
    Robert

P.S. All the Star Wars trench style photos started when we were studying WWI in depth. The movie Paths Of Glory effed his head up as badly as it did mine.

Okay, obviously NOT his photos, but I snaked one of his models he’s working on to take snaps of. This is one of the tiny things.

Anyway. It’s a work in progress, but he does pretty good work for a kid. Well, young man...

Some of the battle scenes in Star Wars movies were very sterile, His renditions are more true to what battle is, the filth, grime, confrontation, exhaustion, hunger and thirst.

He has a real gift for tweaking the scenes, You can see the effort, first one or two I saw I thought were actors.

His maternal great grandfather was on Saipan (well, he went there, then hung out for a while after everyone stopped shooting, too...), and his maternal grandfather was in Hue. Quadzilla has spent thousands of hours with those men, and as he has aged, he has heard stories nobody else in the family ever has.

I really think those stories and his in depth study of WWI informed some of these.

I really am in awe of his vision, for lack of a better word. What his eye sees, and how he sees.

    Peace,
    Robert

We are currently planning and acquiring materials for a studio area for him. And a small alcove workshop with some wee tools for model work.

Quite fun for me to have purpose.

Rob, from the above, it is clear that your son has developed a clear respect for his elders, and (most important ) the ability to really listen

You, Sir, have a wonderful family ....
