Hi I need informations about some god supplier of sitka spruce and western red cedar from US , Canada ( near east coust if possible ), or maby Europe . When I said god I mean reliable ( I will pay goods without seeing it so I would like to be shure that I will receive 1 class spar grade sitka spruce ) , and not expencive - but the quolity is on the 1 place . By the way , I am from Serbia & Montenegro ( Europe ) and I want to build hollow wooden mast ( I need 1x6' and 1x8') for my 34 foot steel sail boat . I plan to join with some friends of mine to order big quontity ( maby 1 container) of sitka spruce and western red cedar . Any information is welcome .
    Thanks in advance
    Dragan

As both are West Coast species, if you can buy a 40' container then I'd recommend dealing direct with the mill and talk to them about shipping:

    Queen Charlotte Island Boat Lumber
    PO Box 293
    Port Clements BC V0T 1R0
    250-557-4282
    obrien@qcislands.net

Old-growth Sitka Spruce and Yellow and WR Cedar for 3-4 bucks/BF....half the price of Edensaw and others...worth the truck freight....and a solid, family-run operation.
Been almost a decade since I shipped a 40' container 8000 miles by sealift, but I remember it costing in the $5000 range.

B.C. is the only game in town these days for the best tight-ringed, old-growth stock in these species, as none has been cut commercially in the US for over a decade.

I have had Spar grade spruce shipped sight unseen to S. E. Asia on more than one occasion and have never been disappointed. They supply companies such as Wicks Aircraft..and others..

I would not buy sitka again from Boulter without personally inspecting it very carefully.

I'll second Fred Tebbs. I was able to pick mine up in person, but if you tell 'em what it is you want it for, you can count on getting top grade stuff. They "get" boatbuilders.
