How will the GOP fare when the racist ahole is thrown out on his ass?

39 posts.... and not even bobbys can bring himself to defend Trump's blatant racism.
"Reason and facts are sacrificed to opinion and myth. Demonstrable falsehoods are circulated and recycled as fact. Narrow minded opinion refuses to be subjected to thought and analysis. Too many now subject events to a prefabricated set of interpretations, usually provided by a biased media source. The myth is more comfortable than the often difficult search for truth."

Playing to his base supporters. They agree with him.

Now about that 40% who don't care either way or hold their noses……………… They are ipso facto supporters as well.

And yet there is nothing that can be done, there are bigger crooks in the Senate, they know how bad he is.

Reading a book right now set in Stalin’s Russia. The parallels are scary. The more Trump and his sycophants get away with, the more they can get away with. We cannot accept this as normal.

Waiting for GOP response. If the Senate or House GOP leaders don’t clearly condemn this it’s obvious white nationalism is the GOP platform. This isn’t a matter of interpretation.

Here is the Fox headline on this. Why is the Pelosi line in that headline as if she is the one telling them to go back? No wonder The Trumpsters are confused.

Trump targets freshman congresswomen, Pelosi on Twitter, tells progressives to 'go back,' 'help fix' home countries

The POTUS is playing with fire.

Facing no reprisal from his own party, the president appeared emboldened later Sunday, going on the offensive against Democrats for rallying around the congresswomen, whom he accused of using “disgusting language.”

Rather than triggering criticism, Trump’s laceration of the cadre of liberal, minority women elicited laughter from one of his most trusted focus groups, the figures of “Fox & Friends.”

As noted by the liberal watchdog group Media Matters for America, a segment on the women, known collectively as "the squad,” ran on the program about 20 minutes before Trump issued his barrage on Twitter.

Later in the day, a co-host of the show’s weekend addition laughed about the tweets with her colleagues.

“Someone’s feeling very comedic today,” Jedediah Bila said

With those who approve of this kind of thing, yes - but they're already firmly on his side. As far as this is a strategy at all, rather than a blurt, it's an even more concentrated version of Lee Atwater's 'energize the base'. The problem, of course, is that there's a limit; 'the base', (although it's pretty damn base if it liked these tweets) is only so large, and no amount of energizing will get them to vote twice. Overall, I don't think this helps him at all.

The gas lighting is strong in this one:

    Donald J. Trump
    @realDonaldTrump
If Democrats want to unite around the foul language & racist hatred spewed from the mouths and actions of these very unpopular & unrepresentative Congresswomen, it will be interesting to see how it plays out. I can tell you that they have made Israel feel abandoned by the U.S.

NY Mag has a brief discussion about this - can't remember who wrote it - saying that this racism towards Democrat congresswomen and the various "immigration" related actions resulting in previously unthinkable cruelty towards brown people - should be understood not as policy, but as election campaigning. That Trump's aware that he cannot appeal to anyone else who already votes ... no swing voters, no R-leaning Dems etc. ... so instead he's campaigning to motivate the racist folks who've typically not voted. To put it differently, this is a "voter registration drive" for white nationalists and their non-voting sympathizers.

LONDON — Lawmakers and commentators around the world expressed shock and disgust Monday after President Trump targeted Democratic minority congresswomen in a series of tweets over the weekend and told them to “go back” to their countries.
    .
    .
While Republicans remained overwhelmingly silent, lawmakers around the world were not.
    .
Sadiq Khan, London’s first Muslim mayor who was born and raised in the city and has frequently clashed with Trump, told a British radio station that this is the type of language he’s heard for much of his life — though never from such a source.

“I’ve heard it from racists and fascists. Never from a mainstream politician,” he said. “Here you have the president of the U.S.A. using that same sort of language.”

This seems about right. As far as it's a coherent strategy at all, and not just an eruption of bile, that's a good description. I don't think there are enough of them left for this to work, but I could be wrong. Gotta love an appeal to the worst devils of our nature, eh?

Trump now has the unmitigated gall to ask the representatives that he's insulted to apologize to him, the country and Israel:

Trump continued his attacks Monday morning, calling for the "Radical Left Congresswomen," who he again did not name, to "apologize to our Country, the people of Israel and even to the office of the President" for what he called "their horrible & disgusting actions."
