No shortages of idiots here, He didn't have much of a chance before this.
Or maybe just some not entirely unexpected blowback from #metoo?
His stated problem isn't that she's a she, it's that they would sometimes be left alone together, opening the door to he says/she says possibilities.
Pete
I have no trolls on ignore!
Maybe he just can't trust himself to behave appropriately around women?
Or maybe his wife doesn't trust him and he's obeying orders?
what a dumbass
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.
Avoiding even the appearance of impropriety, and also abiding by the decision he came to with his wife.
The dumbassery comes in when he can't muster the mental mojo to come up with a solution . . . Of course, the reaction from the opposition is entirely predictable and ridiculous, so maybe he's smarter than he looks.
So David G, you are going to condemn all of Mississippi over the actions of one idiot? Thanks, I really appreciate that.

David likes finding any reason to condemn southern states. Meanwhile we never have had armed militants take over a wildlife refuge in Mississippi.
ya could warn a guy jimmy

Her issue was that he insisted on her providing the escort. She thought that should be his responsibility.
Not her fault she's female.
A society predicated on the assumption that everyone in it should want to get rich is not well situated to become either ethical or imaginative.

Mississippi, making Alabama look good since 1817.
Fight Entropy, build a wooden boat!
No, it's not her fault she's female, and if he provided the 'chaperone', then that person's view is suspect.
If SHE provides the escort, then the bias is toward her version of events, thus eliminating the possibility that he would manipulate any publicly-aired account of those events.
A VERY smart 'concession' on his part.
I know you don't like it, and he IS a wretched effing 'Republican', but the #metoo movement has changed the rules.
Hopefully forever.
No politician in his right mind would allow himself to be in private company with any woman not his wife.
Sorry, folks, but there has got to be a better reason to not vote for this scumbag.
Naaahhh... a long memory would show that I've used that same 'You GO...' title for a variety of locales.
It may be true that Mississippi, or Alabama, or Texas, or the South in general, has more than its share of dum bassery, and therefore elicits more notices.
And, of course one can't condemn every individual in a state for ONE dumbass. Or even if the entire state govt. is FILLED with dumbasses.
BUT... calling out instances the when they occur is worthwhile, I reckon. Sort of along the lines of a favorite sports columnist who was criticized by school officials for pointing out the flaws of our Oregon Ducks football team. He said: if you don't want the criticism... and it was fair, true, and accurate criticism... do better. It's that simple. You're not suggesting this is unfair, false, or inaccurate criticism, are you?
I raised a ruckus about Malheur locally. State officials. Local officials. My congressman and senator. I would hope that pointing out instances of dum bassery would inspire y'all to do the same in your locales. And, Jimmy, you forgot to mention that they were armed Out Of State militants. Few locals. And even the locals who were ideologically sympathetic mostly didn't support their actions. Imported dum bassery. Though we certainly have our share... we mostly are able to keep them corralled.

so first you create the #metoo reputation destruction machine. and now you're upset that men are trying to keep themselves out of the way of it?
Lemmee guess... another voice stepping forward to defend the South?
Or was he speaking out for an outraged manhood under attack by liberal harpies...?

https://mississippitoday.org/2019/07...male-reporter/In an interview earlier on Supertalk, a statewide conservative talk radio program, Foster acknowledged the publicity from what he called “the liberal media” could have an upside.
How the controversy and Foster’s strategy plays with Republican voters in Mississippi could prove monumental to the August 6 Republican primary featuring longtime frontrunner Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves and former Mississippi Supreme Court chief justice Bill Waller Jr.
Several public and internal Republican campaign polls show Foster with support in the single digits, trailing Reeves and Waller. However, strategists close to Reeves and Waller, as well as political observers around the state, have questioned whether any candidate can reach the 50 percent threshold to avoid an August 27 runoff.
After the story broke on Tuesday evening, several GOP campaign operatives scrambled to make sense of how the moment could affect the outcome of the election.
With even a small bump from the controversy, Foster could cement that runoff and draw national media attention to what would be the first runoff in a Republican governor’s race since 1991 — and possibly a contentious one.
“I think that this could eat into Reeves,” said Nathan Shrader, chair of the Department of Government and Politics at Millsaps College in Jackson. “Waller’s messaging has been pragmatic in terms of specific policy proposals. Tate’s messaging has been more about a conservative culture war, with the license plate ad and the ‘Hollywood liberal’ stuff. The messaging this week from Foster is more like Tate’s than Waller’s, and I think this really crystalizes for some voters that Foster is in that camp.”
To be fair, I coach women and young women athletes, and I am NEVER alone with any athlete. We can have a private conference off to the side, in full view of everyone, but that’s it. No closed doors, no car rides, no nothing alone.
Ever.
It’s one of the rules, actually.
So, IF the situation was truly one of a man and woman alone together being an issue, well, it is. True, it’s only an issue because SO many people have taken advantage of similar situations, but it’s real.
Peace,
Robert
That is a situation where an adult has been placed in a position of authority over a minor, not an adult interacting with another adult on a professional level. I think there is a big difference.
What's next, full-time chaperones, chastity belts?
Be a better man.
And, it applies to adult athletes as well. D1 ladies are just the same as 12 year olds. Applies to lady coaches, officials, team assistants, fans, parents...
For example, there is a lady coach in our organization who I really like to talk to. She has a great perspective on the game I’m coaching mostly, now, and helps me a lot. In exchange, I inform her of training and nutrition information and speed work drills, and etc.
But, we can’t ever just hang out together unless someone else is there. There are prohibitions against us having any private conference out of eyesight of other people.
No such prohibitions for male/male or female/female conferences. That is, another male coach and I can get into a barrel together, and go over Niagara Falls while kissing, and it would be okay.
I can’t step behind a building to have a one-on-one conversation with a female coach or parent, though.
Weird world.
Peace,
Robert

Yes.
Because there have been enough cases to warrant these rules. Which is sad.
Like the infamous “diarrhea in the pool” signs, these rules weren’t made after the first incident. And, we shouldn’t NEED the rule, but enough people apparently need them...
Peace,
Robert
