Angry 9' 6" Nutshell Pram Outer Keel

I am confused about the dimensions for the keel. The Materials List states you need a 3/4" X 5" X 8'6" Mahogany. However the "Layout for Outer Keel" on dwg #6 shows a 1X12 Mahogany. And if you crunch the numbers on the Layout you will need a minimum width of 6-3/4". Does anyone know which is right.

I wouldn't sweat it too much Bob.

On my nutshell I just used a piece of nominal 1" x 4" Douglas fir I had laying around. Then just cut a fair shape and glued it down.

    Works just fine.

    Any pictures of the build?

Put two on. And make a cutout in the aft end of each for a hand-hold. This makes it much easier to manipulate the boat when it's upside down on a dock or a deck.

I did this with my 10 footer. Very handy indeed.

And better rowing -- tracks better.

And stronger inside too, because the 2 keels end up positioned where you step.

I'm curious where you positioned the 2 keels - about how far from the CL?
