Default Optimists Only Beyond This Point

In honour of our great friend who has just passed over the bar, Peter Sibley, here's a thread for the offering up of problems with the view to gaining positive advice, or simply just a silver lining to something that can't necessarily be solved, as not everything can.

The thread title comes from the sign that hangs over the entrance to his shed that his daughter Kristy and son in law Bryan want to restore and preserve:

    407784937.jpg

It was also the title of my tribute to Peter, the principles within it I would like people to be guided by in their responses to anyone who wishes to make public their problem, in the expectation that unconditional love of our fellow humans and our world is the highest of all ethics, and that positivity and optimism are attitudes that are the best kind in the face of adversity.

Peter made his problem known and allowed us to go on his journey with him and it has deeply affected me. I'm still wrapped in a cloud of grief, but this is one way of keeping his love for us all alive.

Thank you for starting this, Duncan, and thank you for all that you've done recently, not just for Peter but for all of us out here who live vicariously through this forum. Your selfless contributions are a model of how we should choose to view the world. T

Doesn't matter if the glass is half full or half empty - I see the server is on her way to fill it!

Thanks for this & all you've done Duncan.

Just planted the seedling trees that Peter had propagated and were available at his funeral.

    Thank you Duncan.

I think that I might do a sign for my home, not just my shed as I need reminding constantly.

I might add "and be kind always" to it..

He was in good company with that shingle.

I've repotted mine into a large pot. It will go into the rainforest glade by the creek I will be planting from the other threes he gave.

My trees have their greenhouses (bubble wrap) installed as the frosts are about. But where they are is well enough protected I think. The actual temperatures however are quite low for a semi-tropical rainforest species.
    But I am optimistic.

    Excellent Duncan, thanks!

I think I should put the same sign on our front gate!

Morning all. Tanks are full, creek is flowing, wetland is full, frogs are goiung bananas, the native orchids are thick on the ground and this morning it's only 5c but bright sunshine. Perfect spring day….. in the middle of winter!
And I'm being taken out to lunch!

    Optimists only beyond this point.
