oh, how I despise hibachi. It's the boy's favorite thing ever, so I'm obliged to go along on his birthday dinner every year, so I get an annual reminder of how crappy and expensive it is.

Having said that, I'm a fan of the flat top. We haven't brought the grill to the tailgate parties in several years now, the flat top is just as good or better at everything.

i know what you mean about the restaurant cost. i worked it up for my cost. it was a shade under $20 and would have fed 10-15 people. not too shabby.

i forget some poor schlubs are devoid of the waffle house.

we use waffle house closings to determine the severity of storms and natural disasters. they are literally open 24/7/365.

That and Ihop is where all the drunks go at closing time. In way south Texas and Mexico there would be Taco venders on the street.

So you just use the griddle outside? With propane? Donít you have a griddle on your kitchen range? We love ours. There is no possible way to estimate how many pancakes have been cooked on this stove since weíve had it. Plus injera, dosas, and all kinds of yummy things. The broiler underneath is handy, too.

i have the two burner camp chef griddle, looks just like yours alan. love it for big groups or parties, hunting camp etc.

i don't generally start with the frozen lima bean succotash, but i have my own lowbrow american habits so i don't judge.

you must have fonder memories of the grade school cafeteria than i.

I'm stoked to hear the word griddle.
That's what we call it in Ireland - traditionally a hot plate in the kitchen over the fire. I've used it here in Oz and people think I've got two heads.

We have a saying in Ireland for a person who can't sit still or is irate - to be 'like a hen on a griddle'. Do you guys use that?
When i use it hear...... silence.
It's all fun and games until Darth Vader comes.
