8.6 million people live in NYC and another 2 to 3 million commute in. Still not as bad as Tokyo or Mexico City

Amazing how little the oyster bar has changed in the last 30+ years. Gotta say their oyster stew is some kinda wonderful.

NYC is certainly good for some interesting architecture.

Clearly never heard of presentation. That stuff all looks like puke.

Gareth they have been “presenting” it that way since 1912 and there has always been a line.

is the oyster pan roast the epitome of nyc culinary traditions?
Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

Joe, I confess that I would not want to live in NYC. However, I would love to eat there every day!

Now that I'm home and before I have a stroke because my Amin just went to Japan for 10 days. Just as I hired 3 new people, took possession of the Transit Connect ( its getting wrapped ) , and I'm finishing up on the financing of the 4th van that pick up in Vegas the end of summer. Oh and the grooming salon is ramping up. Add to the fact we have house guests coming this week for a week.

    Anyway back to NYC.

Monday was a a bit of a grey overcast with 100% chance of rain, but we decided let's take the ferry in and do the Highline. I figured that a a rainy Monday would be way better than a sunny Sunday with 1 million tourist, and ya know what I was right It was almost empty.

We did the whole thing but the new section by the Hudson Yards was something I had not seen yet and it was awesome. There is a really cool new structure called the "Vessel" but everyone calls it the Basket.

Then there is a new super high end indoor shopping plaza with an AMAZING Spanish market by Josť Andrťs and Ferran and Albert Adriŗ, three superstar chefs considered to be some of the most highly influential figures in Spanish cuisine. Andrťs is credited with popularizing tapas in the U.S. and now runs several restaurants including the two-Michelin-starred Minibar in D.C. This is his first venture in New York City. Itís also the renowned Adriŗ brothersí first stint in the U.S., and they bring quite a reputation for their work at now-shuttered experimental restaurant El Bulli in Spain.

    The highlight is
the paella, cooked on an open flame using wonderful cherry wood
