While we are at it here are some highlights so far.

Took the morning ferry out of Weehawken to midtown than a cab ( see apple pay above ) to Kaffe1668

Kaffe1668 in Tribeca - My friend said to meet him there said it was really pretentious but really good coffee- and as usual he was right

Next we hit "The" spot to have breakfast, Salmon scramble with bagels and bailies. None betta, our waiter had all the wit and humor of a young Henny Youngman

Since we were on the Upper West side we went for a second breakfast of steak and eggs at Miznon North yum

Then a quick jaunt out to Brooklyn

Ya see the Empire State Building in the center of the bridge ?

Last but not least Renee and her mother met us for dinner at Ippudo New York. I've been saying for years now that Ippudo was better than our ramen place Hiro Nori in Irvine. Guess what after extensive taste testing the conclusion was .............. Hiro Nori in Irvine wins by a pork belly

Today we are gonna do the Highline, probably try to hit a few of my old haunts like Walkers and Fanelli's

exactly. i would hate to know the exact amount of time i spend each day getting out my wallet and paying with cash or a card. it has to be in the upper 20's seconds. UNBELIEVABLE!

It is actually a fair point to wish to expedite the change.

Eliminating cash currency is good for the gubbmit, because then they donít have to borrow it, and they can track and control money better. Grey and black market is harder to run with no lucre, even fiat.

If itís as inevitable as it seems, letís just go thumbprint or retina or some such and be done with, ďChip, or no chip? Contactless? Wait, whatís this crumpled thing? Oh, this is what those rappers throw in those videos! Yo, this isnít real money, is it? Itís just like a baseball card for a president. Is that his house?! Iíve never even SEEN one in real life...Ē

You've obviously never lived in a city of 8 million commuters 20 sec x 8,000,000 = 160,000,000 seconds or 2,666,666 hours or 111,111 days - so while you mosey down to the Piggly Wiggly and chew the fat with the cashier and pull out your wallet and count change 2,000,000 NYC commuters just swiped and were on their way

If one were to open-carry an AR in manhattan, and reserved the left pocket for the business cards given by lawyers, and the right pocket for cards given by psychotherapists, which pocket would fill first?

Crooks are way ahead on this one. BitCoin and the plethora of other cryptocurrencies are the capital of the dark realm. Billion$ and Billion$.

There is always a digital trail.

If the money is blips, it can be found and tracked. If itís folded paper changing hands? Not always as easy to track it...

These look like a lot of nice places to visit in NYC.

I like Apple Pay and such but ... when disaster strikes and the electricity goes down for several days cash is king.

That's funny and I like it, having grown up in a small town with a Piggy Wiggly and a Red Owl. It illustrates the urban / rural divide with just a touch of derision, but I often wonder who gets the last laugh - the city slicker or the bumpkin.

This is not "Tin foil hat territory"

Every time you swipe a card, offer a chip to pay or pay with a "Cashless" method it is recorded.

Down the line your personal habits are open to being used against you.

When my income hits my bank, no one pays cash anymore, I remove it in cash

Cash cannot be traced, and this drives the authorities nuts

If a business asks for I. D. or an address whilst I am making a purchase, I walk. No deal.

You don't need to know me to sell me something.

At a Woodcraft store anywhere in the USA there are many customers whose phone numbers are 555-1212.

Hardly. Ask HSBC about the $400 million in cash they deposited on behalf of Mexican drug cartels. Of course, as usual, HSBC paid a small fine as the cost of doing buisness and no one went to jail. More illegal payments made in US dollars globally than anything else.

Glad you're having a good trip, but I thank my lucky stars I've never lived in a city of 8 million. I also thank them that I live a lifestyle where spending an extra 20 seconds per purchase wastes close to a couple of minutes per week.

I'm wondering if Joe Jones, who recycles cardboard boxes for rent money and visits the food bank fo sustenance, will have to come up with an $800 cell phone in order to pay for aspirin at Walgreens.

Last time I was in a big city I got a card for the transit system. I loaded it with the amount I figured I would need then just tapped the card reader when I boarded transit. No need for an expensive Dick Tracy decoder watch. I did make one mistake in that I put too much money on the card before I discovered that the fare for a "senior" was $1 per trip independent of how long the trip was or how you traveled. So I paid $1 to go via light rail from the airport to downtown, express bus to the north end of the city and finally local bus across town to my friend's house. I tried to use up the extra money I put on the card by taking extra ferry trips, but failed. Oh well, since the money on the card doesn't expire I will just use it the next time I go back to the city.

Ask, Google, Amazon, NYSE, Nasdaq, etc. VS Piggly Wiggly, Waffle House, Chick-fil-A.

FYI I love when gun totting out of state crackers ask where they can store their guns when visiting NYC and they are quickly handcuffed and told it's a mandatory 3 year jail sentence and have to get bailed out of Rikers
