I have a friend who is VERY active in most Democrat causes. I was surprised to find out she wasn't aware of this one. We need to forward this to as many friends as possible. Even if you don't want to contribute, send the link to someone.

McConnell is as important as Trump for removal.

    https://www.yorkdispatch.com/story/o...ough/39543259/

So this is how liberty dies — with a hideous, utterly shameless smirk on the face of arguably the most cynical political leader in American history, as the warriors in his political tribe cackle with laughter.

The end came last Tuesday in about the most out-of-the-way venue you could imagine: a chamber of commerce luncheon in Paducah, Kentucky, where Mitch McConnell — the 77-year-old son of bluegrass country, now one of America’s three most powerful politicians as Senate majority leader — was finally asked a question that’s long been on people’s minds, about how he might handle an unexpected Supreme Court vacancy if one occurs during the 2020 presidential election.

It was in 2016, you surely remember, that Justice Antonin Scalia died suddenly and McConnell wouldn’t even allow then-President Barack Obama’s nominee, a thoroughly decent federal appeals court judge named Merrick Garland, to get a hearing. This wasn’t, McConnell insisted at the time, what it looked like — denying Obama his constitutional power to fill a vacancy that was never questioned for the 42 (cough, cough … white) presidents who came before him, and a naked power play to make sure pro-business judges set our laws for the next 40 years.

No, the Senate leader told us, this was about the highest democratic principles, that “(t)he American people should have a voice in the selection of their next Supreme Court Justice,” while also claiming political precedents that didn’t really exist. Three years later, McConnell is now telling us that the people’s voice is only audible when it’s Republican voters looking to replace a Democratic POTUS.

“Oh, we’d fill it,” McConnell said Tuesday, unable to suppress his laughter that quickly spread through a room of Kentuckians who also see the lighter side of 21st-century neo-fascism. He prattled on for a minute or two about the importance of a permanent wall of judges which, in his words, “cannot be undone.” That’s just proof of how a U.S. government that fails to enshrine one person, one vote (neither in the electoral college nor the small-state rural dominance of the Senate) can — with the aid of McConnell’s ruthless realpolitik — create a judiciary that will control women’s bodies while cramming pro-corporate pablum down the throat of a nation that gives more popular votes to Democrats running for president (6 out of the last 7 times) and for our hopelessly gerrymandered Congress.

The best way to relegate Mitch to the trashbin of history is for the dems to retake the Senate.

It occurs to me that many admirable Democrats now imagining themselves capable of sitting in the Oval Office should instead imagine themselves sitting in the Senate.

Yeah. I'd love it, of course, if Warren ended up President - and she's certainly climbing - but IMO she'd be a lot more useful in the Senate. But I fear that she's been damaged in the same way that Clinton was, and that besides that, she'd lose the same kinds of close races that Clinton lost. My money would be on someone like Harris instead, for all that she's gonna have to climb a hill for having the temerity to be both female and black.

Okay after some googling, Dems need to flip five seats in 2020 to take a majority. There are 22 Republican seats up, and 12 Democrat seats up.

"Dear Mitch McConnell & all those representing him, please refrain from using my image in support of anything but your own stunning humiliating defeat. Thanks! Adam"

Adam Scott on Wednesday told Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's reps to not use his image, even in what the social media team considered a pithy tweet.

The Big Little Lies actor made the request via social media after whoever runs the Team Mitch account shared a GIF of Scott's character from Parks and Recreation in response to the news that President Donald Trump said he would fill a Supreme Court vacancy before the 2020 elections despite Republicans blocking Merrick Garland in the same scenario a few years ago.

"Dear Mitch McConnell & all those representing him, please refrain from using my image in support of anything but your own stunning [and] humiliating defeat. Thanks! Adam," the actor tweeted to the team of the 77-year-old politician. Scott has more than 1.5 million followers.

By the afternoon, a couple more tweets were exchanged between Scott and the McConnell account, which seemed to conclude with Scott posting a picture of McConnell receiving an award while posing in front of a large Confederate flag.

The is not the first time someone from Parks and Rec has demanded an image from the series not be used in a similar circumstance. Last year, show creator Michael Schur took exception to the NRA sharing a GIF from Parks and Rec on its official Twitter account. The producer demanded the pro-gun organization take the image down as he didn't want the show to appear to promote a "pro-slaughter agenda." The tweet featured Amy Poehler's character, Leslie Knope, giving a thumbs up in support of then-spokeswoman Dana Loesch.

Schur also said then, "Amy isn't on twitter, but she texted me a message: 'Can you tweet the NRA for me and tell them I said **** off?'"

Nick Offerman, who played Nick Swanson on Parks and Rec, later echoed Schur's demand that the NRA take down its tweet.
