Default Two oil tankers attacked off UAE.

    Sabotage the Saudi's say.
Iran says it wasn't them and calls for an enquiry…..
Black flag op? Nothing would surprise me about the Saudi's, and such incidents would play into their and donalds' agenda rather than Iran.

"DUBAI (Reuters) - Saudi Arabia said on Monday that two Saudi oil tankers were among vessels targeted by a “sabotage attack” off the coast of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), condemning it as an attempt to undermine security of global crude supplies.
The UAE said on Sunday that four commercial vessels were hit by sabotage near the emirate of Fujairah, one of the world’s largest bunkering hubs lying just outside the Strait of Hormuz.

With carriers already steaming in that direction for days, I smell somethin' fishy. And I'm not one for conspiracy theories. But nothing would surprise me about Trump and Mohammad bin Salman.

I note that any actual damage is not specified.
Is this donalds "Gulf of Tonkin" incident? The ultimate distraction from his domestic problems? It certainly would not be the first time for the US.

    Errrm?
Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih said in a statement that one of the two Saudi vessels attacked was on its way to be loaded with Saudi crude from Ras Tanura port for delivery to state-owned Saudi Aramco’s customers in the United States. The attack did not lead to any casualties or an oil spill but caused significant damage to the vessels’ structures, he said.
INTERTANKO, an association of independent tanker owners and operators, said in a note that it has seen photos showing that “at least two ships have holes in their sides due to the impact of a weapon”.
Trading and shipping sources identified the Saudi vessels as Bahri-owned very large crude carrier (VLCC) tanker Amjad and crude tanker Al Marzoqah. Bahri did not respond to a request for comment.

C&P from the link in the OP.
Which was updated 20 minutes ago. Damned journalists doing their jobs.

I must admit that I thought "Sabotage" (throwing a wooden shoe into machinery) simultaneously taking out 4 tankers was a misnomer. An attack from a small fast boat is more believable.

Damage on one boat appeared to be a rather small hole at the water line. I imagine who is responsible for it could have done a better job with a little more effort.

Just enough damage to attract a lot of attention.

    How convenient.

Maybe this is garden variety damage hyped as sabotage by Saudi gov’t? Seems to me if someone wanted to put a real hole into a ship a few shaped charges and a ton of high explosives would be used.

Man that movie keyed me up. I suppose a swarm of suicide speed boats is possible but I’m thinking a terrorist attack inside a countries territory would be more effective. A utility craft of some sort that is regularly inside a secured area and moves next to docked or anchored ships. Not sure how much a standoff distance a shaped charge can have before it loses effectiveness but that would scare folks more than a ship at sea that has time to identify and communicate about an attack.

Yes, INTERTANKO, claims to have seen photos.
    And from the BeeB

Norwegian firm Thome Ship Management said one of its vessels had been "struck by an unknown object" off Fujairah

Sure you can trust what someone says but it’s still up to you to interpret what is said and the integrity of the person saying it.

An empty tank on an oil carrier might be even more explosive than a full one if t was not purged with flue gasses, or similar

Yes, it would, but with the people we keep electing, and the unelected people who make the real decisions on these matters it's unlikely any time soon. Major skepticism, if not outright cynicism is required, and that does great damage to the concept of democracy.

You are not alone in this, we are near the end of an election campaign and there's no 'truth in political advertising' laws here either. Major fraud in pursuit of personal power is legal.

About the last radio news I ever listened to on NPR All Things Considered was one of their journalists visisting Iran under the sanctions and hearing how much Iranians really liked Americans. Then all the government monopoly media started promoting war for oil...

Huh? Who is it that ended the deal with Iran? Who is it that tweets about how evil & nasty they are every week? Who is it that believes Israel can do no wrong, SA can do no wrong, but Iran is evil?

Attacking Iran would just be another war crime amongst many perpetrated by a succession of US governments all in search of domestic distractions and often based on lies. But also a cultural crime of the first order knowing what destruction would be wrought on cities as old as civilisation.

If the conservatives win in Aus. they will also be looking for a distraction. Labour not so much but if history is any guide if the US wags its finger they will come running.

Correct... The "Deep State" that wants war with Iran is Pompeo, Bolton (vocally wanted it for 30yrs), Erik Prince (talked to the admin 2yrs ago about "Iran Policy" hmmm $$$$ for his mercenaries), and all their ME buddies and the MI complex and probably a bunch of hedge funds. A war is a good distraction if there is economic pain coming. I feel like I'm watching an old familiar playbook. Now we got an aircraft carrier, "sabotage," it's all set up and ready to go.

Everyone will be surprised and say, "we didn't want this but we had no choice." Break out your flags!

On the side, think our little failed coup last week in Venezuela with some of the biggest oil reserves in the world had anything to do with the Persian Gulf getting all pumped up?

I'm waiting for Iran to buy a South Korean nuke and set it off a mile from our carrier group. The carrier group would be dead, we'd lose our **** and WW3 would start.

believe it or not, Iran continues to abide by the agreement it made with the rest of the world under Obama's watch. We may have backed out of it, but by all accounts, they are staying with it. I do not believe they are the aggressor here, but somebody wants them to look like it.

Direct attack on US forces with a nuke would be suicidal, they aren’t suicidal.
