Iran will not close the straits.

There is a country on the other side of the strait, called Oman. Oman has been a prized ally of ours since the start of the last century.

China imports oil through the straits, just like everyone else.

The Iranian Navy and Air Force are not up to it.

    Etc.

Andrew, I don’t see any reason for Iran to attack shipping through the straits but isn’t their rhetoric about “closing the straits” a reminder to the world an unprovoked attack on them by the US will have consequences for the world?

There's not NEARLY the same amount of money in digging a ditch as there is in a never ending war.
The best statement I've seen from this latest carnage came from a student who lived through it -

"My generation will not allow this to continue!"

    Can't argue with this.

This Reuter’s report has been pointed out to me, by one of those who contributed to it, as particularly accurate.

    https://www.reuters.com/article/us-s...-idUSKCN1SL1BD

As the report states, two pipelines built to cut off the Straits of Hormuz terminate at Fujairah and Yanbu, but I’ll just add that Fujairah is used as the waiting anchorage for ships waiting for a cargo, for crew changes, running repairs, bunkers, etc.
