    Default McConnell's gift..

“A White House free of congressional oversight will likely behave far differently than one that knows it can be the subject of congressional investigations.”
    – Prof. William P. Marshall, quoted in The New York Times, May 8, 2019)

"...this assault on a Constitutional balance of powers is victorious.

A failure not only not impeach Trump for abuses of power from his first day in office but also not even bring the full report of those abuses into the clear light of day will embolden Trump as well as his followers who delight in his trespassing of a Deep State which is preventing Trump from making America great again. Trump’s narcissism and need for adulation, something the presidency is giving him, surely convinces him that he is the most popular president in U.S. history, the most deserving of life-time tenure. If he could by executive order repeal the Twenty-second amendment, which restricts the presidency to two terms, he surely would."

and make no mistake, from the beginning of President Obama's first term right up thru today, McConnell is the driving force behind the final destruction of our experiment in democratic self rule.. yet the focus remains on the latest symptom - iDJT, making it a gift to the oligarchy - and a theft from us.

McConnell is weak. He is a toadie without the backbone to keep his oath.

and belief in that rationalization helps McConnell win. His oath has always and only ever been to a conservative oligarchy.

In this scenario, he leads. Witness iDJT dropping his nominees for the Fed over Rep 'concerns'. What we saw was iDJT nominating men who fit what Reps ('baggers) _say_ they want, finding they (Reps) want something drastically different, and capitulating.

Bottom line - McConnell (w/ esp 'bagger support) is using an inept iDJT to enable his agenda.

Not sure how far - but definitely worse. He is actually bright enough to know what he's doing.

He’s been loving the diversion trump has been giving him. No one is looking at all the Russian money donated to his campaign. The Russian aluminum plant in Kentucky is barely getting any coverage either.

He's got it all going on, Russian money and married to the daughter of a Chinese shipping magnate.
He's running with the Cocaine Mitch moniker.

    A despicable person

I'm no fan of McConnell or Trump but I don't get the thesis. This is the only mention of McConnell in the article:

“Case closed” Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced.
Is that the gift? If not, what is the gift?

'reading between the lines'. iDJT has no power without Congresses support.. and that comes from McConnell who has worked for years to get this situation happening. The word 'gift' itself is sarcasm.

The best statement I've seen from this latest carnage came from a student who lived through it -

You may be correct, but at 85, his hard hitting days are mostly gone - and we can always hope he has a shred of shame.

'hope.. shred of shame.. Republican..' I made a funny.

The gang that couldn’t shoot straight. The dupes that chanted ‘Russia, Russia’ for two and a half years, who have shown their willingness to partake in the coup, who would, by any means necessary, disenfranchise 63+million voters; are now soapboxing this garbage? He’s running for re-election.
