Default Vancouver for a conference - lay day sail?

    Morning All,

Two very agreeable scientists I know from Switzerland are attending a conference in Vancouver this weekend and next week. Both are keen sailors.
Can anyone recommend a friendly club or notice board where they might meet some locals and perhaps go for a sail?

I have picked up a ride there once, just hanging on the beach. It was quite exciting...

Which Vancouver? The one in Canada or the one on the southern border of Washington State?

One of the coolest things to do in Vancouver area if they have two full weekends would be to catch the float plane out of the harbor and fly to Victoria. Cost is not too high. Its a short distance, the plane flies very low over all the islands and lands in the inner harbor of Victoria. There are a number of large wooden vessels there, a big schooner and a brig or similar. One of the loveliest, most walk-able waterfronts around.

A float plane to Victoria is a blast. Last time I flew from Seattle to Victoria, there was fog in Admiralty Inlet. We flew as far north as Anacortes and come over the San Juan Islands flying SW to Victoria.

As to which Vancouver, not many people travel from Europe to a conference in Vancouver Washington
