Default Lemonade - A Oughtred Auklet in 1:10

For a while we had just the plans. After another move last year it seemed like this fall things might come together so we could start building, but now I suddenly find myself with a lot of time and no means.

    If life gives you lemons...

This is pretty much the whole bill of materials. A scrap of 1mm ply and a hardwood offcut, which I think is teak but I'm not sure.

And this is the setup. The scroll saw is a loaner and a luxury, that aside its pretty basic:
    • Japanese pull saws to break down the lumber,
    • rasps, files, sandpaper, and a boxcutter for shaping,
    • hot glue for templating and fixing the jig,
    • superglue for assembly,
    • a few spring clamps.

    Garboard going on.

First broadstrake. The lattice template works just as well in miniature.

Here we are, six planks in.

And two more yesterday. Sure goes pretty quick when the glue only takes 10 seconds to set.

Labor of love! Looking forward to seeing her afloat... even if only in your kitchen sink!
