    Default Valora

Wonderful article of the new Valora. The loss of the the wonderful first Valora was very hard. I was around the corner in Lagoon Pond for that storm, sheltered from seas but still bearing the brunt of that wind. At one point a weird shadow flickered in the port so I poked my head out to see a medium large catamaran cartwheeling (bow, bow, stern, stern, bow, bow, stern, stern . . . ) across Lagoon Pond and up the hill. Spectacular storm. When things calmed down a day or so later and I got out of the pond, I snapped this not yet knowing it was Valora. Ghostly.

Here she is about a month before

Valora was able to hold better to weather with the board up if she was going fast. Some clever design there.

Simpler is better, except when complicated looks really cool.

The new model Valora is a profoundly different hull model and is very appealing but . . . but . . . but . . . there are aspects of the hull form and rig of the original Valora that one wishes were evolved some by a family of Valoras. The world needs some folk who want such a boat and an NA like William Garden who likes to do evolutionary design series.
