Default some good news, land protection act passed the house

The bill also includes a crucial guarantee: that the popular Land and Water Conservation Fund, which uses revenues from offshore oil and gas drilling to pay for land and conservation efforts countrywide, will be permanently authorized. Authorization for the fund, which has been in existence since 1965, lapsed in September of 2018, jeopardizing conservation projects across the country. If this legislation passes, the fund will be permanently enshrinedócementing backing for the 41,000 projects and nearly 2.4 billion acres of public lands it supports.

Key word is "House". Since the midterms, these things are easy. Passing the other hurdles won't be.

At 363 to 62 this one should be good to go on the presidents desk.

Has it also passed the Senate with a veto-proof majority? No? Then you are too sanguine. But I sympathize with your sympathies... <G>

McNuggets probably won't allow it on the Senate floor for a vote.

You are right. I am less than 'au courant' on current issues. Too much noise. I am more interested in the long swing of history, and view current events thru the prism of those patterns. But I did read the article you quoted, and it said nothing about having achieved Senate approval. Did that happen subsequently... or was it an omission... or did I just miss the mention?

It went to the Senate first, passed 92 - 8. It was just passed by the House, 363 - 62. It had better support in the Senate.

When I saw this from two different bicycle advocacy groups I was thinking maybe our politicians aren't as polarized as we are led to believe.

I was reminded of the recent bipartisan opiod act and transportation bill.

The the Cohen testimony started and I was reminded of the saying even a blind pig can tell the correct time once an acorn.

Oh well, if we don't celebrate the little victories there will be no cake at all.
