Gear Aquasition Syndrome, and I don't want to be cured.
What I really need is a rewards program.

Speaking of gas and rewards... I just got a 95 cent/gallon discount on gasoline. I filled up my car's tank for $14.50.

Wow. If I seriously hit the lottery, I'd buy at least two of those.

There are two very nice PRS model on the local classifieds right now that I'm trying desperately to ignore. Also a Vox VT20+ with a footswitch for 200 bucks, I'm going to hold out for an AC30C2 though.

many years ago my Boss and I had some time to kill before a meeting, so we popped into a guitar shop he'd heard good things about. Up walks the smarmiest salesman I've ever met well I can tell you've got a bad case of GAS!

    We're stonefaced.

    GAS, man... Guitar Acquisition Syndrome!

Boss shoots me a rather apologetic look, we turn on our heels and leave.

Wise decision. The too familiar salesperson is the quickest way out of any store I've ever been in.

No, a harp guitar is designed for all strings to be used at once. The double-neck, on the other hand, I would set up for using one or the other, probably with different tunings on each neck.

Emerald builds really lovely instruments, and they sound magnificent. I have their little 12-string Amicus, kind of a mandolin/guitar hybrid, and I'm itching for another Emerald.

E.T.A. This is somewhat like what I would like, but I'll never spring as I have a serviceable uke.

Right. The Chimaera has 18 strings (12 + 6), which I think comes to 4.5 when divided by 4...?

Well, I did not know that! I'll have to Google some to see it in action.

I get it about the doubleneck.

Yes. My statement was made as fact. There was no exaggeration for what I perceived to be a humorous affect.

I have NEVER met a finer Orca. Besides, those of us with dry, bizarre, quirky ways, never mind when our attempts to spread OUR ideas of funny fail. Par for the course. I mean, you've seen the instrument I play, right? Hahaha.

Actually, I became interested in the uke when I learned from an uncle that they were Portuguese influenced. Then I found out they can be finger picked banjo-style, and claw hammered, too, and it was OVER.

I mean, I still play the guitar, but not much, and only with Quad. I have the guitar and rig I always wanted when I was into kicking stuff over and chuff-chuffing with the gain set on 11, but... meh. Hahaha.

Who knows why we like things? Something about the uke speaks to me. Which probably says more than enough by itself...

    Peace,

The problem with those harp guitars is that they tend to violate one of the most basic principles of playing bass, in that you need to be very careful about leaving one string ringing and going off to play another one. It tends to often make this muddy layer of sound under everything else with the two notes fighting each other, which those recordings are full of. It is certainly possible to have two strings ringing on a bass at the same time, but you have to choose them carefully, as well as exactly when you are going to let it happen.

Yeah. That's one reason I don't have a harp guitar.

It's also the one thing that makes me leery of double-necks, but I imagine it wouldn't be too hard to use a mute on one neck at a time. Maybe re-purpose a Kyser capo...

Is there a percussionist in the house.

A local kid already has two different drum kits, - piano, vibraphone, harpsichord - and having been loaned a pedal concert harp - now has serious GAS - and a slightly panicked parent.

The timpani is the line. More than one timpani indicates a percussion addiction.

Woohoo! Just back from the store, they had undiscovered inventory so no more waiting for me. This thing is glorious, I can't wait until I can make it sound good.
I gotta say though, the 0.5watt output setting is loudest half watt I've ever heard.
