Default Building system for SOF canoes by Cape Falcon Kayaks

It is always rewarding to check out what is going on at Brian Schulz' Cape Falcon Kayaks.

Recently Brian came up with a building system for skin on frame canoes of various sizes culminating in a 16 foot rowboat/sailing canoe.

If you like watching interesting videos and looking at fascinating photos of skin on frame boats be sure to follow his instagram page and youtube channel.

Really like his little SOF canoes!

His youtube channel is a fantastic source of information and inspiration.

But finding mostly clear ash without grain runout for the ribs is a bit of a challenge.

Brian Schulz on the first version of his skin-on-frame row/sail canoe:

Overall, its a decent little rowboat. 156 long, 42 inches wide, 14.5 inches deep, 60 lbs. Not too much for one person to handle, but big enough for two people and a week of camping gear. A lightly framed boat but still tougher than a Kevlar canoe. Overall Id say its a decent first effort.
